THE HOLY SPIRIT PT.10 – THE NAMES AND TITLES OF THE HOLY SPIRIT PT.3 VIDEO TRANSCRIPTION

Thank you for joining us today on Kingdom Come broadcast with me, Andrew Nkoyoyo. We continue with this study of Holy Spirit, and we are in part 10, The Names and the Titles of the Holy Spirit. The person, God the Spirit, dear friend, has been a real treat to go with you in depth on this subject because this is a subject that is near and dear to my heart, but it’s also near and dear to God’s heart.

As we have gone through so far, we have seen that we cannot really walk in the demonstration of the fullness, of the power of the Holy Spirit, without knowing the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit is not what you have seen on television. He’s not spooky or weird.  He’s not about shaking or falling on the floor. He is a person. Remember this is He is God. We have talked about the role of the Trinity.

Let’s read

Acts 19:1-2 “While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There He found some disciples and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They answered, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”

Dear friend, there are many believers today, followers of Christ, who love Jesus, but they do not know the Holy Spirit.  I encourage any who are reading this right now, if you are joining us today for the first time, GO BACK and listen/read the previous lessons so you can get the fullness of who Holy Spirit is.

Now, they know they have an intellectual, maybe even a theological knowledge about Him being the third person of the Trinity. But for most people, that’s kind of where it ends. They don’t really know that there is more to the Holy Spirit, that there is more to who He is and what He does. In this series, our desire is to bring clarity, knowledge, and understanding to you so that your relationship, your pursuit, your faith will rest on the power of God.

Paul said that my preaching and teaching was not in the persuasive words of man’s wisdom, but in the demonstration of the Spirit and power. What did He mean by that? He meant that His teaching was preaching, was in the demonstration, in the manifestation of the totality of the aims and the titles and the power of the Holy Spirit.

What does that mean? It means that every time we hear a title or a name, that is attributed to the Holy Spirit. it’s not only attributed to His work, but also to His nature, to His character. As we talk about the working of the Holy Spirit, as we bring this whole thing together, because this knowledge comes down to what you do with it.

Now that you know, He IS every one of these names and titles and all that He’s, and has and does. What you do with it? You begin to apply it.

THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH.

John 14:17 “The world cannot accept Him because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you and, and will be in you.”

Here, Jesus calls Holy Spirit, THE SPIRI OF TRUTH. Jesus uses this title to point out a truth that is so fundamental, that is so crucial for us, who are serious to know the truth.

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and life.”  And He says, “the Spirit of Truth.” Now, do you make the connection? If you are going to know the way, the truth and life, WHO IS Jesus, you need to go through the Spirit of Truth because the Spirit of Truth brings you into the truth, into Jesus.

Are you beginning to get this?  I’m so excited and I can feel the anointing now pouring on me. I hope I can complete this teaching, but the Spirit of Truth brings us into the knowledge of Jesus. He brings us into the truth, into Jesus Himself.

If we are going to know Jesus, He says the Spirit of Truth, He’s going to be with you. The world cannot know Him because they neither see Him. They neither accept Him nor reach out to Him but you know Him. He’s talking about those who follow Him. Those who have accepted Him. Those who receive Him. He says, “You know Him because He is in you and He’s going to be with you.”

John 16:13 “But when the Spirit of Truth comes, He’s going to guide you into all truths. He will not speak of on His own. He will speak only what He Hears, and He will tell you what is there to come.”

He’s going to bring you into all that Jesus is, has and does and He’s going to prepare you. He’s going to equip you. He’s going to guide you, be your friend. You can never go wrong. You can never go astray if you get to know the Holy Spirit as this Spirit of Truth.

This is not just a mere name, by the way. When we talk about names and titles, what is in the name? The name is the active presence of a person. When we talk about the spirit of truth, it’s like we are connecting with the Holy Spirit as the active presence of truth of Jesus, the truth Himself. If He’s the active presence, when we connect with Him on that level, on that name and on that title, as we call upon Him, He’s going to guide us. He’s going to teach us; He’s going to bring us into Christ Himself into all truth.

He’s going to remove all error. He’s going to expose all deceit and all the lies of the enemy. The lies you have believed, the lies the enemy has been speaking, the lies people have told, He’s going to expose that because His truth, His truth in His nature, His truth in His character, His truth in His person, and His truth is in His work.

Let that sink in, the Spirit of Truth, you want to know the Bible, I’m going to walk you through. This is simple. You want to have clarity, understanding of things you’ve read in the Bible, and yet you can’t really understand them.

The Bible says that you are not going to need another person to teach you because the Spirit will teach you how, because He knows the Bible. Then the failure for us to know the Word of God is because we have failed to connect with the one who is the spirit of truth. He’s the one who teaches us the truth. He shows us the truth.

I have been blessed with wonderful teachers in my life. I have wonderful mentors in my life, but the deep things of God that I’ve learned over the years, they have come me seated at the feet of the Spirit of Truth. This takes time.

The price of revelation, the price of anointing, the price of this relationship. It’s time. And you see, that’s the problem in the western world. We don’t have time. We are in a hurry. But if we ‘have the time, if we are passionate and hungry and put in the time, we can know the truth of God. Hallelujah!

We can walk in the truth of God, we can walk in the reality, or we can know the what the Bible says that the deep things of God are for those, the secret things of God belong to the Lord, those things are hidden, and God will reveal those deep things to people who are serious enough to search them out, to sit and listen and wait upon the feet of the Spirit of Truth to be taught.

Dear friends, I’ve been to Bible College all the way to a doctorate. The stuff I’m teaching you, they never taught this to me in Bible College and Bible college is not the answer. It is helpful, but it’s not what it takes. A theology degree is good, but God does not call us all to a theology degree.

Zechariah 4:6 “It’s not by power. It is not by might. It is by my spirit,”

Oh, I want you to put that in your spirit because God says, when it comes to His Spirit, He says, “My Spirit. He is personal.” It’s not just the Spirit of the Lord, the spirit BUT MY SPIRIT.

This is not known by the cunning cleverness of man. It’s not by the human strength but IT IS BY MY SPIRIT. As He begins to point out all these areas that the Spirit will bring us in, not only for just intellectual knowledge, but also for experience, for reality and demonstration.  He’s the Spirit of Truth.

1 Corinthians 2:10-11. “These are the things God has revealed to us by His spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.”

We want to know the deep things of God. You can read a thousand books, but you will never know the deep things of God because other humans, unless they have really been truly searching, will not know the deep things of God. They will teach you a portion, little portions, here and there about the deep things of God.

But He says, “The Spirit searches the deep things of God, for who knows a person’s thoughts except their owns Spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.”

The Spirit of God who, such as the Heart of God, the Father, the Heart of Jesus, He brings us into these deep things. He’s the Spirit of Truth.

Psalms 19:12 “But who can discern their own errors? Forgive my hidden faults.”

He says, “Who can discern? You cannot discern your own errors, but the spirit within you can help you discern even the errors within yourself. The errors within your belief system, your errors in anything really.

2 Corinthians 3:18 “And we all who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory are being transformed into His image with ever increasing glory, which comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.”

He’s the Spirit of God, of glory as we are finding out. But what I want to drive deep into your spirit, He’s the Spirit of Truth. You want to know God. You want to make God known. You need to learn to sit at the feet of the Spirit of Truth and it is going to cost you time.

I believe if the western world, the western Church, will cut down on the so many activities and learn to sit at the feet of the Holy Spirit, we will know God.  We’ll be full of God’s power because the price of carrying the presence and the power in totality, in fullness is time. The costs is time it takes you to take the journey with the Spirit of Truth. You don’t rush into it. It takes time to take a journey into His presence.

His presence is not something you just rush in, five minutes here or there. We are trying to practice the presence of God. That is good. But I’m telling you, through prayer, when you’re pressing into the Heart of God in the place where you are receiving. I am not talking about getting to know something here and there, but I am talking about a lifestyle of pressing in.

When you get to get immersed in the truth, in the glory, in the power, in the anointing of God, it is going to cost you time. Many people say, “I want the power of God. I want to walk in the anointing.” The price is time. Time in prayer, time in fasting, time in sitting in His presence, time in His word, time listening. And I’ll tell you, that’s the hardest part for all of us. For most of us. That’s why it takes surrender.

THE SPIRIT OF LIFE

Let’s talk about the spirit of life. He’s the spirit of life. He is not only the Spirit of Truth, but He is also the Spirit of Life. The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy but I have come that they may have life and have it more abundantly. John 10:10. But how? Then He gives us the answer.

John 6:63, “The spirit gives life. The flesh counts for nothing. And Jesus says the words I’ve spoken to you, they are full of spirit and life.”

The Spirit gives life, but not only eternal life. I know some commentators think that this only applies to the eternal life. Yes, it applies to eternal life, but I will tell you, there is no miracle of healing into your body that happens until the Holy Spirit touches you.

I’ve seen withered hands come back to life. I’ve seen withered legs be restored, yes, crippled legs.  The spirit touched them with the life of God and suddenly they went from being withered to miraculously healed. All glory to God!

It’s the Spirit of Life.  I’ve seen a miracle, whether it’s a creative miracle, miracle of deliverance, a miracle of healing, a miracle of salvation, it does not matter. It is the Spirit that gives life. If we are going to know the life of God, if we are going to know the life that Jesus gives, we need to know the Spirit of Life.

We must connect with Him. I’m going to show you in future teachings how we put it together. When we talk about the work of the Spirit.  He is not here just to be a member of the third person of the Trinity or to apply these titles but also to apply the reality.

The reality that is embedded in His names. He’s the Spirit of Life. And Jesus says the words I speak, they’re spirit and life. But you know what? And then He says, but it is the Spirit. You want life. The Spirit gives life. That’s why no sinner ever repented without the Spirit because the Spirit is the only one who gives life even eternal life.

He’s the one that breaks down the walls of unbelief, of doubt, whatever hinders man from opening their hearts and minds to the truth. He gives man the knowing that he’s a sinner and seeing His need for a savior. It is the spirit that does all that work.

When the spirit does all that work, “boom”! He imparts life just as the Spirit that gives life and your flesh has no role in that experience. It is the work of the Spirit. When we realize that, then we can yield.

I pray, dear friend, that you get the boldness to begin to reach out, to connect with the Spirit and calling Him by name, Spirit of Life. I need you. I need the power of God. Suddenly, the Spirit of Life walks into that situation when you need a miracle.

He’s the Holy Spirit but I want you to have confidence when you begin to talk to the Holy Spirit, relate to Him. When I go to study the Bible, I invite Him, I say, “Spirit of Truth, I need to learn this truth. I need you to unpack this truth.”

And guess what? Sometimes I’m there in the word I intended to do my study for an hour, all of a sudden, it’s been over three hours and I’ve lost track of time. Why the Spirit of Truth? Immediately He took me into the deep things of God. It’s like He’s feeding and I’m devouring and I’m devouring, and I can’t get enough.

I’m devouring it because I have dared to reach out. It is the same thing for you dear friend. Nobody has a monopoly on these things. That’s why it’s in the Bible. My desire and my prayer is that you open yourself up to a new life of the Spirit.

The Bible calls us ministers of the Spirit. We are called to be ministers of the Spirit, the New Testament ministers. Why? Because we have the Holy Spirit in us and with us and His power upon us.  Then we can minister the spirit because if we’re going to minister life to a dying world, we better have the Spirit of Life with us. Do you agree?

We better have the Spirit of Life working in us and with us to bring life into our marriages, our communities, our finances in every area we can look to the Spirit of Life. And Jesus laid it out here. He gives us the blueprint; He gives us the answer. He gives us the key. There is no mystery, dear friend. It’s just about knowing it and having the confidence and the faith to reach out for it.

Romans 8:2, “Because through Christ Jesus, the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.”

Are you struggling with sin in your life? Are you struggling with some habit that you’re trying to break? Here is the key, the law of the Spirit of Life or the NIV version states, “The law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.”

That’s how we overcome sin and death by getting into the spirit and allowing the Spirit of Life to transform our lives and to fill our lives with the life of Jesus. Hallelujah. This is the key. It’s the spirit not by might, not by power, but by My Spirit. (See Zechariah 4:6)

It’s not complicated. There is really no formula to this. There is no method. Just that simple. It’s knowing the Spirit and opening yourself up to the Spirit and having the knowledge, the New King James says “for the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.”

That’s what sets you and me free. That’s how we can be free from struggles, from doubt and from unbelief. We can look to the Spirit of Life. We must connect with Him on that level. Best on that name. If you need life, don’t call the Spirit of Truth. If you need life, you call the Spirit of Life. You talk to Him, the Spirit of Life

THE SPIRIT OF POWER

If you need power, you need to connect with the Spirit of Power. The Holy Spirit imparts that power. That’s why I’m so mad at the devil. The devil hates the teaching and the preaching of the Holy Spirit. Do you know why? Because he would rather have people go to church, singing hallelujah, raise their hands and have no power.

Have no life in them to the fullest and live below the potential that God desires them to walk in. They are not dangerous to him. Yet the moment you discover the potential and really the dynamite power, the Dunamis, the dynamite of God in you by the Spirit, then the devil begins to care.

He cares what you do, where you live and straightaway it looks like all hell breaks loose. But guess what? You have the power. He will try. He cannot destroy you. Listen to this, He cannot destroy you, but He will always try to distract you.

That’s what he does. He brings lies and all kinds of different attacks, and you find resistance here and there. He attempts to squeeze you using circumstances and situations in your life to stop you from pressing in for all God has for you.

Impulsively you are consumed with your situations and with whatever’s going on, and you are distracted from your focus on the Lord, distracted from pressing into the fullness of the power that God wants you to have.

The moment you retreat, and you go back to your place, and you know you are in this fetal position, wondering where is God? Instantaneously, you are questioning your faith and questioning what you believe and where is God, what has happened? You question, “Why is God not helping me?”

The devil? He’s laughing in the corner because you are going to die like a mere man because you do not know who you are. But dear friend, the good news is, God has not left us to ourselves. He has given us Himself. He has given us the Holy Spirit.

That’s why Jesus says, when I leave, I’m not going to leave you as orphan. I’m going to send the Holy Spirit. He’s going to be in you, with you and upon you. Why? Because He knew in order to overcome, we need the Holy Spirit. In order to be effective, we need the Holy Spirit. He is the Spirit of Life.

The law of the spirit of life has set you free from the law of sin and death, dear friend. Put that in your spirit. We get prayer requests from people saying “demons are tormenting me.” You need to stop and ask the Spirit of Life through the blood of Jesus to come into your life, into your situation.

You need to learn to connect with the Spirit of Power that delivers to you with the power of God. He applies the power of God. I will teach you in coming lesson how to tap into the power.

THE SPIRIT of PROMISE

Ephesians 1:13-14 “In Him, you also trusted after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation in home. Also, having believed you are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchase position to the praise of His glory.”

I’m not going to spend more time on this one, the Holy Spirit of Promise, or the next one, the Promised Holy Spirit. Basically, He was the Holy Spirit who was promised, but also, He’s the Holy Spirit of Promise because He was promised by the Father and by Jesus.

In addition, He brings us into the promise of the fullness of God. Now and at the end of time. Right now, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise. One of those promises is that He’s coming back for us. The Holy Spirit is preparing us, the bride of Christ for the marriage supper of the Lamb, the Promise Spirit,

John 14:26, “But the advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have said to you”

John 15:26, “When the advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the spirit of truth, who goes out from the Father, He will testify about me again.”

This is the Holy Spirit of Promise and the Promised Spirit, these are scriptures and there are more.

Acts 1:4 “On one occasion, while He was eating with them, He gave them this command. Do not live Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my father promised, which you have heard me speak about.”

The Holy Spirit, before He came, He was the Holy Spirit of Promise, and He was the Promised Spirit. Now He has come, and He’s here with us.

THE GOOD SPIRIT

One title, rarely mentioned, is the Good Spirit.

Psalms 143:10 “Teach me to do your will for you are my God. May your good Spirit lead me on level grounds.”

Now, there’s something I want to point out Here, the good Spirit, He says that He leads him. May your Good Spirit lead me on level grounds. The Good Spirit. He’s called the Good Spirit because He brings us into the goodness of God.

He reveals the goodness of God. That’s why the psalmist says, “May your Good Spirit or another version says, “the Spirit of Goodness leads me.” He leads you, dear friend do we can be lights even when we do not feel like it because our situation is not perfect.
And we are wondering, why do I never get to experience the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Here, the psalmist says, “May your Good Spirit teach me to do your will.” Now, what I want you to connect with is the good Spirit asking God to teach Him the will of God.

The Good Spirit of God always connects and lead us into the will of God. The will of God is what is going to lead us into the goodness of God. Now, I’m not talking about good works or good activities or good things. I’m talking about the perfect will of God.

There is the passive will of God. There is the good will of God. Then there’s the acceptable will of God. All those three are good, but they’re not good enough. Do you want the goodness? Do you want the perfect will of God? It is the good spirit of God who leads us on that level ground where we get to encounter the goodness of God.

How I talk to Him every day and every morning. I ask Him to take me by the hand and to lead me into the goodness of God. Sometimes my flesh doesn’t want to go where He’s leading. To go through the valley of the shadow of death.

Yet He says, that even when we go through the valley of the shadow of death, He’s with us. But it’s on the other side of the valley of the shadow of death that our cup is going to run over, not before. How do we get there? It is by the Good Spirit. The Good Spirit of God leads us into the goodness.

That is another title that I want you to really get yourself familiar with, to connect with the Holy Spirit, asking Him as the good Spirit. He knows the goodness of God. He knows the good that God has for you.

The Good, God wants for you and desires for you. And when you look to Him, He’s going to guide you. He’s going to show you how to enter it. He’s going to show you which way to go. He’s going to refocus you into the will of God.

Be proactive, ask Him to teach you. Be like the psalmist says, “Teach me to do your will. Help me, show me, empower me to do your will. May your good spirit guide me as yield and surrender to do the will of God.”

Cast yourself upon the Good Spirit. You can trust Him. He’s good. Be a friend. If there’s anybody that I’ve known to be good, it is the Holy Spirit.

THE ETERNAL SPIRIT

He’s the good Spirit. Oh, how I love Him. Let’s talk about Him as the Eternal Spirit.

Hebrews 9:14 “How much more shall the blood of Christ who threw the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God.”

It is the work of the Eternal Spirit to bring us in to the kingdom. It is the work of the Eternal Spirit to sustain us, to prepare us for eternity. Here He talks about how much more through the blood of Christ that washes your sin through the eternal spirit.

Jesus offered Himself without spot or wrinkle and because of that, His blood could cleanse our conscious from all dead works. But the point is, it was through the Eternal Spirit. There is nothing that Jesus did that the Holy Spirit did not empower Him to do. Let that sink in because most of the time we say, “Oh no, that was Jesus!”.

Here on earth we can look to the same Spirit. Jesus did not have a different Holy Spirit than you.  I have the same Holy Spirit and if we’ll let Him, He’ll also be the Eternal Spirit to us. He has brought us already into the kingdom anyway, now He’s preparing us for eternity.

He knows what Heaven looks like. He knows what it takes to get in there. He knows what kind of person can enter heaven. If we can allow Him, He’ll bring us into this last point that we want to talk about.

THE SPIRIT OF HOLINESS and RIGHTEOUSNESS

He’s the Spirit of Holiness and Righteousness. He’s not only the Eternal Spirit who knows about eternity. He’s been from eternity to eternity. He knows everything that it takes for us to not only to come into the experience of eternal life here on earth.

And also, for at the end of the age when we go to Heaven, to prepare us so that we’re fit for Heaven and for eternity.  He’s also the Spirit of Holiness.

Romans 1:3 “Regarding His own son, who as to His earthly life was a descendant of David and who through the Spirit of Holiness, was appointed the Son of God in power by His resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord.”

He was appointed the Son of God by the Spirit of Holiness. Oh, dear friend, I put this at the end on purpose because I want you to grasp this. He’s the Spirit of Righteousness. He’s the Spirit of Holiness. In other words, He imparts the holiness and the righteousness, and He works the holiness of God in us.

That’s why the Holy Spirit is quarantine against sin. He’s so anti-sin and anti-iniquity that every time something that is contrary to His holiness, to the holiness of God, He will begin to convict us. Why?  Because it is in His name and His nature. He’s a Holy God. That’s why He’s a Holy Spirit.

And if He’s going to work in our lives, He demands holiness. But listen, He has not left us to our own to be holy and righteous, striving in our cunning cleverness of man or in our human arm of strength to be holy and righteous and be good and perfect.

No, He will work the holiness. The Bible says here, even Jesus Christ. He was a descendant of David who through the Spirit of Holiness. He was approved. Dear friend, you are approved because the Spirit of Holiness lives in you. Hallelujah.

You are approved because the Spirit of Righteousness lives, moves and operates in you. He does the same thing to approve you. To approve you for the Heaven. To approve you for the power of God, for the work of God, for the demonstration of the Spirit and the power of God.

So that you can make the impact. To live the life God calls you and desires for you to have, to live and move and have in your being. This is by the Spirit of Holiness. That’s why as I preach about revival, and I tell people that the revival we need, is the revival of the Holy Spirit.

Because when the Holy Spirit comes, He’s going to bring us to our knees. He’s going to convict us. If we let the Holy Spirit in our churches, He’ll begin to bring us on our knees and convict us. Of all the manmade things that hinder God, that have replaced the truth of God, what we need is a revival of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit Himself coming back into our lives and into our churches. If we can dare allow Him, He will set us a place. We can become nation changers and life transformers. Why? Because the Spirit in His totality is everything that we need, that we want and we desire, and He can accomplish it into our lives.

Dear friend, how I weep for the church, for us to know the Spirit of God. Because if we can know the Spirit of God, He’s the spirit of holiness. If I’m struggling with any habit, any negative character trait in my life, I know I can look to the Spirit of Holiness. I can look to the spirit of righteousness. I can look to the Eternal Spirit. I can look to the Spirit of Life. I can look to the Spirit of Truth in my life.

As I cry out to Him, I invite Him and surrender myself to Him, He will begin to work those things within me to transform me into the image of Jesus, so that I can begin to carry the glory of God. I can begin to carry the anointing, the power of God in reality, not in talk, not in speech, but in reality.

There’s that reality, then the experience is there and then I can be a vessel of the life of Jesus, a vessel that transmits life. Remember, it is the Spirit who gives life. I’m only a vessel. You’re only a vessel. Hallelujah. Let me pray for you right now.

PRAYER FOR WISDOM, REVELATION AND KNOWLEDGE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Heavenly Father, I pray for this one reading this right now, for the revelation, for the spirit of wisdom, knowledge, understanding, to impart to them the knowledge of the Holy Spirit. I pray that you will break down every barrier, every obstacle, so that they can know the Spirit and enter all that the Spirit is, has and does in Jesus’ name.

PRAYER OF SALVATION

Dear friend, I want to give you an opportunity. You are watching and you don’t have a relationship with Christ? All the stuff I’m talking about is like, “Whoa, I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

You can have a relationship right now with Jesus, but you must accept that you are a sinner and you have seen an offended God and you need a savior.  Jesus is that Savior and you can open your Heart and confess Him. Would you pray this prayer with me?

Dear Lord Jesus, I confess that I’m a sinner. I have offended you in more ways than I can count. I surrender my life over to you. Come into my Heart, be my Lord, and be my savior. Today I confess that I’m used. I confess that God raised you from the dead. I confess with you my mouth, that you are the son of God. Forgive my sins. Wash me with your blood. Write my name in the Book of Life.

Dear friend, you have said that prayer, Jesus has come into your Heart. You are a Christian. You are what the Bible calls born again Christian. Thank you, dear friend, for joining us again here. Welcome back to Kingdom. Come with me, Andrew Nkoyoyo. We continue with part nine, which is, The Names and the titles of the Holy Spirit and this is Part 2 of the Names and titles. As we are breaking the various names of the Holy Spirit, we’re going to talk about the names and titles that relate to the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives. Our theme scripture is

Acts 19:1-2 “While a Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They said, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”

That’s why we are doing this deep dive as a series on the Holy Spirit, and we want to continue talking about His names and the titles. The last episode was so anointed. I didn’t even think I was going to make it through the whole episode. But thank God we did. God wants to impart this revelational knowledge, but He also wants to back it up with experience. That’s what happens when we get to know the Holy Spirit, who He is, what He has and what He’s doing, you know? God wants us to better engage with Him and connect with Him.

The Comforter

Let’s talk about the Holy Spirit as The Comforter. The Bible speaks of the Holy Spirit as being Our Comforter.

John 14:16 (Jesus says) “I’ll pray the Father, and he shall give you another comforter that He may abide with you forever.”

Other translations say, “Helper or Advocate.” It doesn’t matter what version you read. This is the name and the Holy Spirit that is related to his work as a Comforter, As our helper, He’s, our advocate. As a matter of fact, in the Greek comforter is the word is paraclete, which means advocate, a call to come alongside. He’s like a lawyer, as a helper, or as a counselor. That’s why most of the time we know the Holy Spirit is our comforter, but we really engage Him as our comforter. Do we engage Him as our Helper? Do we know Him that he’s called to come alongside us? I want you to think about this. The Holy Spirit, He’s called to come alongside you as your advocate. Think about what does an advocate do? He speaks for you. He fights for you.

He is always there. He fights for your cause. He’s your helper. He’s your counselor. He’s your guide.  He’s the Holy Spirit as a comforter, He’s much more than just coming alongside of us. He’s active. He’s very active, and He wants us to engage Him.

Romans 8 26 “In the same way the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

One of the things we don’t know how to do, even though you’ve been praying for years, we don’t know how to pray. And the Holy Spirit knows how to pray a perfect prayer. That’s one way. You know, when you go into the prayer room invite Him, Holy Spirit, my Comforter, my counselor, helper. Help me to pray. Help me to pray through this. Help me to pray through this situation, through this need.

You will find that He is going to lead you into the very prayer of God, because He says He prays according to the will of God.  That’s why it’s crucial for us to know these titles, they’re not just names. They’re not in the Bible for us to say, “Wow, fancy names.”  No. There’s a reason. There’s a ministry. There are acts, works and miracles, hiding behind those names. The more we know those names, and we begin to interact and engage the Holy Spirit, in that way, we begin to unpack and engage and receive and experience those acts of comfort. He wants to be our comforter. He wants to be your comforter. Whatever you’re going through right now, he wants to be there to comfort you, to go alongside you.

In this ministry right now, that I’m doing, the Holy Spirit is my comforter. He’s helping us with our team here. He’s helping us. We have felt His presence, even right now. I just feel his presence again. Oh Lord, in the last episode, I could barely finish because His presence was so strong, and the anointing was so strong. He is my comforter, and I know it, and I pull on it each time, each day. I pull on it, and He’s always there. When sometimes I don’t feel like I have the energy to continue but when I engage Him as my Helper to help me in the ministry or preaching and teaching or prayer or whatever I’m doing, suddenly there is this supernatural surge of energy, supernatural power that comes to help me. And He’s going to do the same thing for you,

1 Corinthians 2:4 (Paul tells us) “My message and my preaching are not with wise and persuasive words, but with the demonstration of the Spirit’s power.”

Why? Because Paul knew the Holy Spirit as his Helper, as his Comforter. Would you like to know Him as your Comforter today? Would you reach out to Him? Would you begin to engage with the Holy Spirit as your Comforter? You will find new power, you’re going to find a new friend that is always there regardless, whether you feel you have prayed enough or not prayed enough. That is simply guilt which will go away because you know you have a Helper who’s working alongside you. You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to have pray 10 hours of prayer, No. You need only to know how to engage the Holy Spirit.

As I teach you to have this relationship on an ongoing basis, for the Holy Spirit to be your closest confident, to be your closest friend, the one you turn to before you turn to anybody else, your comforter. That’s one name and title that is related to that work of the Holy Spirit as the one alongside us that is powerful.

The Spirit of adoption.

1 John 1:12. “Yet, to all who did receive Him to those, he who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”

When we believed, we became children of God. Watch this, Ephesians 1:5, “He predestined us for adoption to sonship.” By the way, when you read the word sonship or sons in the Bible, it means male and female or maturity in Christ.

That’s what really means. It means maturity. He predestined us for adoption into sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and His will.  PRAISE GOD! How is this coming along, how is this happening? Let’s continue to read.

Romans 8:14-15, “For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons, children of God. The Spirit, when you receive Him, does not make you slaves so that you live in fear again. Rather, the Spirit you received brought about by your adoption to sonship.”

Now, listen to this, By Him we cry, “Abba, Father.”  Dear friend, I have run into so many people who don’t really know God as their Father. Do you know why? Because they have not reached out to the Spirit of adoption, the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit. He’s the one who brings us into this adoption.  The answer here is that we don’t live as slaves.

We no longer are living in fear of our past.  We think that our past is capable of encroaching on our relationship. We believe that we can’t really have that relationship because of our past or the guilt that keeps coming back.

Well, when you reach out to the Holy Spirit and know Him as the Spirit of Adoption, you can ask Him, you can relate and engage the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of adoption. You can ask Him to work all your fears out and to bring you into the adoption. Where you can begin to cry out,” Abba Father.” It’s not by might, it’s not by power. It’s by the Spirit of Adoption.

Please get this. There are so many who are like orphans in the church. They sing, they cry out to God. They come to church and read the Bible, but deep within they are orphans. They don’t know if God approves them. They don’t know if God likes them, let alone love them. They don’t know if God even care. They have not known that the complete work of The Spirit of adoption.

The Spirit of Adoption brings you from wherever you are right now, where the enemy’s been lying to you into sonship. Even right now. I just feel like there are people watching this who are living as orphans spiritually. You don’t know the love of God. You are going through something, and don’t know if God cares. You don’t know if God likes you. You don’t know if God loves you. You can’t even say, “He’s, my Father.”  Well, what you need is the Spirit of adoption.

Let’s read this scripture again.

Romans 14:15 “For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God, you are child of God, right?  The Spirit you receive, when you receive Christ, you receive the Spirit of God, the indwelling of the Spirit. The Spirit you receive sets you free. You are no longer a slave. In other words, you are not a slave of your past. That’s what that means.

You are not a slave of your past acts or sins. He frees you so that you live. It does not make you slaves so that you live in fear. Again, remember, in the past, in your sin, you lived in fear. You have been freed. Rather, this is what the Spirit of Adoption does. The Spirit you received brought about your adoption.

In other words, just think about this like adoption. Somebody, when somebody’s adopted, it means somebody went out of their way to make them part of the family. You were not born in that family, but you are adopted, which means somebody wanted you, somebody needed you, and they did whatever it took to make you part of their family. Hallelujah!

Well, God has done everything to make you part of his family. The Bible tells us that the Spirit brought about this adoption where now you are part of the family, and you need to let go of your past. You might say, “Brother, that is hard.” Well, the solution is here. Ask the Spirit of Adoption to free you from the slavery of your past, of all your sin and the pain memory.

And everything that came with it, and to bring you into the completeness of your adoption. Ask the Spirit of Adoption to help you to know the peace, the joy, the security, the love that the Father has, so that He can bring you into that place where you can cry out, “Abba Father.” That is the most beautiful thing, because this is not intellectual but experiential.

You need to experience this. You must get past your intellect. You must turn it over. Jesus has paid the price so you can have access to the Holy Spirit. And the part of the Holy Spirit’s work is the adoption that He brought you into. Realize you have not just been brought into the family and that is the end.

Holy Spirit brings you and works His adoption in your heart, where you can come to that place, and it may not be an instant thing, but it may be a progressive thing. A place where the Spirit of adoption is working and releasing you from all the past and all the lies. That’s why the Bible says that He does not make you a slave, but rather he brings into freedom, where your past has no more hold on you. This is the key.

I’ve been in places where they’re doing inner healing upon inner healing, and He is right there. People still, after many years of doing this, confessing this and forgiving their parents or whatever they’ve been through, they’re still hurt. Why? Because they have not been adopted. They haven’t known the experience of the Spirit of Adoption. The void still exists.

And it’s only done by the Spirit of God who works in us. That completeness of adoption, where we know that we belong, we know that. We know that God likes us, and He loves us. He doesn’t only like us or love us when we do good things. He loves us regardless. He likes us. He is our friend. That is the work of the Spirit of adoption. You need to experience it.

If you still feel like an orphan, like you don’t belong. You have done every good work to please God. And hopefully you win his favor. You already have his favor. He gave his son for you. He loves you. He likes you just the way you are. Now, when you come, He’s going to change you, right? He’s not going to leave you the same way He found you.

The Spirit of adoption is going to begin to work in you so that you can become secure in your identity as a son, or as a daughter, He is going to make you secure. That’s why the Bible tells us in Corinthians, that there is no more condemnation upon those who are in Christ Jesus. Why? Because of the Spirit of God has made us free.

That’s the Spirit of adoption. We know we are adopted. We may feel unwanted, but He makes us feel we are needed, and we belong.

Romans 8:23, Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit grown inwardly as we await, we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship the redemption of our bodies.

This is another thing that the Spirit of adoption does. This is at the end of the age, the redemption of our bodies, when Jesus comes back, those who are dead in Christ, our bodies will be redeemed again. We see here we are brought into the fullness, the completeness of our adoption when Jesus comes back and those who are dead in Christ, they are raised, and their bodies meet. They have the Spirit, being given a new body and will forever live with Christ.

The Spirit of adoption. He brings us not only here on earth but makes sure we are ready for heaven. We are adopted here into the family. We belong in the family and have all the rights and privileges of the family. But now at the end, when Christ comes, our bodies are going to be redeemed. As we come into the final completeness of our adoption into the family forever and ever with God.

That’s the work of the Spirit of adoption. Put that in your Spirit. This is crucial. Dear friend, would you reach out to the Spirit of adoption? Would you get to know the Holy Spirit? And as you know Him, would you connect with Him on this level as the one who works the adoption, completes the adoption, and He makes sure that your adoption is forever, eternal. This is, this is beautiful!

The Spirit of adoption makes sure that you get a new body with your Spirit as you go to spend eternity with Christ. I don’t know any other religion that can claim to give people eternal life. I don’t know any other. What we are in is not just a religion but a relationship with the most amazing people who ever lived, God, the Father, Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit!

The Spirit of grace

Ephesians 2:12 “Remember that at that time, you are separate from Christ, excluded from the citizenship in Israel and foreigner to the covenants of the promise without hope and without God in the world.”

The Israelites were the chosen people, citizens of Israel but we, Gentiles, we were separate cut off without hope, not knowing God in the world, but the grace of God, the favor of God brought us in. Let’s read

Hebrews 10:28-29 “Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses, How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God and underfoot who was treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them? And who has insulted the Spirit of Grace?”

See, when we reject the blood of Jesus, when we reject the finished work of the cross, we are insulting the Spirit of Grace, because the Spirit of Grace is the one that is searching and reaching out to us, bringing that hope from our lostness, from our wayward thinking and ways of the world. He’s the one that woos us. He’s the one that goes after us.

“Jerusalem. Jerusalem,” that is Matthew 23:37, (This is how Jesus cried out about Jerusalem. He said,) “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you. How often have I longed to gather your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you are not willing? “

Zechariah 12:10, “I’ll pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of Grace and Supplication, and they’ll look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for Him as one mourns for an only child. And grieve bitterly for Him as one graves for firstborn son.”

Again, we see here Jesus came, and he wept over Jerusalem because they stoned the prophets. They rejected those that were sent to them. Jesus says, “How I long to gather you and hold you and save you and be your Lord? “

The Spirit of grace and supplication

See here we see this prophecy that Zechariah spoke about the coming of the Messiah, the outpouring of the grace of God. And He said that He will release the Spirit of grace and supplication.

The Spirit of Grace is the one that opens our eyes to see the need for Jesus, to see the need for a savior.

That’s why without the Spirit of Grace, even Jesus wept because they, they needed the Spirit of Grace to woo them, convict them and open their eyes to see who He is. He says, “How I longed!” And Zachariah prophesied that He’s going to pour on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of Grace and Supplication, so that they will be able to break from their sin and begin to see how wicked and sinful they are. For them to see the Savior, the solution to the problem.

That’s why none of us can say, “Oh, I saved myself.”. It was the Spirit of grace that saved you. I know we’re singing the amazing grace, how sweet the sound. But you know what it is? It is the amazing Spirit of Grace that opened our eyes to the grace of Jesus Christ. Without the Spirit of Grace opening our eyes, we would still be out there in the dark, without hope and without truth.

When the Spirit of grace touched us, suddenly we broke. That’s why He says that upon the house of David and Jerusalem, He is going to pour the Spirit of Grace and Supplication. In other words, they’re going to weep, they’re going to cry out. We see here in

Revelation 6:16 “They call to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lord.”

Without the Spirit of God, many will be calling. I don’t want to face this, God, please! Calling for rocks to fall on them and hide them. But there’s nowhere we can hide from the Almighty God. But right now, the Spirit of Grace is reaching out to you right now. You are a believer. You have experienced this Spirit of Grace.

You are not a believer. The Spirit of Grace is talking to you right now and says, “Hey, would you open your heart to Jesus? Would you receive this hope? Would you receive this life that God freely gives?” We come to Christ by the Spirit of Grace. That’s why when in my crusades for years, I prayed out that the Spirit of Grace will be pour out upon the people I’m going to preach to. Why before I got there, the Spirit of grace has been working on them.

Sometimes people will run to the altars. I can’t even tell you how many times people ran to altar, before I ever preached. I would say probably in at least a quarter of my crusades, some of them when I hadn’t even preached the Spirit of Grace application was on the people. Others because of the supernatural, they experienced the supernatural. People are running to the altar. All glory to God.

I remember in South Africa, this guy came to me, and he said, “I want to get save right now,” Right now in a tent crusade in Pretoria, suddenly I asked, “Who else? “Then the whole tent came out. I had not even preached. That is the Spirit of Grace and Supplication.

He causes men to break for their sin. He convicts them, and He reveals their nakedness. He reveals their wildness, their emptiness and their need for Jesus and for the Savior. Suddenly, it’s like the veil comes off. Their need is revealed that they’re naked. At that very moment they are crying on the altar like babies.

They’re getting saved right there and then. I have many, many occasions I’ve seen that but way back in the early days of my ministry, I got to understand these titles and the names of the Holy Spirit. I’ll reach out to the Holy Spirit and I’ll ask the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Grace and supplication to prepare, to go and talk to those that are coming, to prepare their hearts for the message, to prepare their hearts for what God has. I ask Him to convict them too. When I got there, really, I was just only facilitating what God was already doing. The Spirit of Grace had already come upon them and opened their eyes. Engage with the Spirit of Grace. Hallelujah.

The Spirit of glory

1 Peter 4:16, “If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed.

Listen to this.” If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you when you are persecuted, insulted, spit upon, stoned. I have experienced all of those and more, He says, “You are blessed.” The Spirit of God, the Spirit of Glory, is on you and rests on you.

I was talking to a dear couple in Australia just last week, and they were asking me about all these, you know manifestations they are seeing. They told me how people were attacking them in the marketplace and in the streets because of the supernatural and the miraculous.

They’re seeing visible, tangible manifestation of the supernatural. I had to tell them because they didn’t know. They are students in the School of the Anointing online course, and they’re using my book, Catch and Release God’s Supernatural, and God is working.  I had to tell them, that’s the glory of God. Why? Because it’s the Spirit of Glory. The Spirit of Glory begins to reveal Himself in you, and the world around you is not going to like it.

They are not going to like it. I had to comfort them and encourage them to keep going forward and to know the Spirit of Glory is on their lives, is manifesting in their lives and upon their lives. Whatever you’re going through, if you’re being persecuted, you are insulted, you’re rejected, whatever may be happening, know that the Spirit of Glory is right there with you.

The Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding

They are actually different caplets here.

Isaiah 11:2 “The Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel, and of might the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.”

Now this is a prophetic word about Jesus. Do you see what made Jesus great? We see all these are prophetic words about Jesus. But do you see the prophet is talking about how the Holy Spirit is going to manifest and work in His life, and all the wisdom, the understanding, the knowledge, the fear of the Lord, the might, and the counsel that Jesus displayed while He was on earth.

It was because of Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit manifesting Himself as the Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding. Wisdom is the ability to apply the knowledge of God’s word in our lives, in our daily lives. Jesus had plenty of that. We know he had wisdom, the knowledge to apply the word of God.

That’s why they could not stand his wisdom. As a matter of fact, in

Luke 2:40, “the child grew and became strong, meaning Jesus the child, he was filled with wisdom and the grace of God was on Him. And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man.

When we continue to engage the Spirit as the Spirit of wisdom and understanding that wisdom and understanding grows, because the more you depend on Him, the more He reveals more, the more He gives you.

The more you show Him you are hungry, or you’re thirsty, or you are teachable, or you are open, the more He’s going to reveal. I know people want to know the secrets of God, and they want to hear God, and they want to see but you must be available. You need to be available to hear and to see. You must cultivate.

That’s why I teach. I show you how in this book, Catch and Release the Supernatural of God, so you can develop a lifestyle. This is not a one-time thing. This is the lifestyle. The more you do it, the wisdom of God and the understanding of God in all things will grow. We see it happen with Jesus, and it’s going to happen with you, but it was by the Spirit, by the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, to be specific.

Mark 6:2 When Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue and many who heard Him were amazed. Wow, where did this man get these things? They asked, “What is this wisdom that He has been given? What are these remarkable miracles He is performing? They are wondering why.”

It’s by the Spirit of wisdom and understanding.

What is understanding? Understanding is discernment in wisdom, is knowing how to apply the wisdom. The Hebrew word for understanding, meaning, having the power of judgment and perceptive insight. You may have the knowledge, but you need wisdom to know how to apply that knowledge.

Then understanding is the ability, that judgment, that power, that supernatural power by the Spirit of understanding, again, is the Spirit of wisdom and understanding. They go together. That’s why they are combined. Because if you’re going to walk in wisdom, you’re going to need understanding to know, when do you apply that wisdom? To have the power of judgment and the perceptive insight to know when you apply that principle, how to apply the principle.

I teach so many principles in this book, Catch and Release God’s Supernatural, but as whatever you’re going through, the Holy Spirit is going to give you wisdom and understanding what principle to use at what time. I share my stories with each principle and when it came to my bout with diabetes, there was a different principle and a different time.

But then He gave me the understanding. He said, “Now, I want you to do fasting and prayer and do it for this amount of time.”  That is wisdom. I’m applying the knowledge I have of the scripture about communion, but now He’s giving me wisdom what to do and how to do it. The judgment. He’s the Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding.

This happened at our kitchen table. I was in the kitchen. I was not in the prayer room. This one was unloaded to me. I was at the dining room table and right there I had a download. This is how I’m healing you. And the testimony is here in the book. So that is, that’s what that means. We need to engage the Holy Spirit in that way.

Proverbs 2:1-6, “My son, if you accept my words and store up my commandments within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, if you look for it as for silver, and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you’ll understand the fear of the Lord and find knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom from his mouth, comes knowledge and understanding.”

This scripture sums it up. He says, “If you treasure it, if you seek it, like I just told you. You want to know God and the secrets of God and the mysteries of God, what God is doing, and what God is thinking. What is He feeling? If you put it that to be central to you, and you crave it, and you yearn it, and you pursue it, The Bible says that you are going to find it.

God is going to give you wisdom. Wisdom, He gives wisdom from His mouth. How? By the Spirit of wisdom and understanding and comes knowledge and understanding.

The Spirit of counsel and might

Let’s talk about the Spirit of counsel and might again, that we find that in Isaiah 11:2.

Isaiah 9:6, “For and to us, a child is born again talking about Jesus to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders, and He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Almighty God, Everlasting father, Prince of Peace.”

Why? It’s because of the Spirit of Counsel and the Spirit of Might. Jesus was mighty, and He is to this day, the Mighty Counselor, the mighty God, the Wonderful Counselor. But you know how he’s doing all that by the Spirit that is upon Him and that Spirit, dear friend, is the one I’m here to introduce you to.

That Spirit is also in your life, is also upon your life. You need to know the Spirit of Might and the Spirit of Counsel.  You need to know if you’re looking for direction, you are looking to, you know what I need to do? How is like recently God gave me this. He said, “Andrew, I want you to send this book to every pastor.”

I’ve never dreamt of sending it to every pastor but that came by the Spirit. He’s counseling and is giving wisdom and is giving understanding and knowledge.  Lord, help me to get it out there. We have started doing it. That was never my strategy, but IT IS GOD. If you dare to listen and to ask for the counsel and for the purpose.

I said, “God, what is the purpose of this book?” You know, it took me a long time, and it took a lot of effort for me and our team here, and different people that were involved for us to put all this together. What is the purpose? He told me, “I want to cultivate a revival, but I want to encourage, and I want to, to equip other leaders, the other leaders that need to, to learn and to get the keys.”

I’ve talked to leaders, and some have told me that they believe in miracle, signs and wonders, but they just don’t know how. Guess what? Here is the tool. This is like a toolkit, but I had never thought of it until the Holy Spirit told me to do it. And now we are doing it. I’m sure with your help and with your support, who give, I want to send this book to every pastor I can find, every pastor, every preacher, every missionary.

I want to bless, I want to bless, I want to bless. You know why? Because when you know, it’s the knowledge you have that when you begin to apply it, you begin to see the supernatural. I’m taking my thirty plus years of ministry and all that I’ve seen around the world, and imparting that knowledge and showing them how simple it is to walk in the supernatural and the miraculous.

I was sitting in my recliner at home, praying and having a conversation with God.  By the way, you need to mean what you say and say what you mean. You must ask God some tough questions. He can take it. I know some of you were told not to ask God questions. Yet God says in the Bible, in Isaiah, He says, “Come and let us reason together.”

I’ll teach you about reasoning prayer another time. He says, “Come and let us reason.” When you come to reason, you find you His counsel. It is going to be by the Spirit of Counsel, the Spirit of Might, that God is bringing about these revelations and the things that are going to follow you.

How is this happening? It’s known by the cunning cleverness of man. It’s not by the human arm of strength. It is by the Spirit and the Spirit knows how to get this book to everybody that needs it. I didn’t know, but He knows.

The Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord

The Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. Again, in Isaiah 11:2 states Jesus was filled with the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of council and might, and the Spirit of knowledge and fear of the Lord. They’re couplets, they’re coupled because they go hand in hand, might and counsel, they go hand in hand. If you’re going to walk in might and the power, you better have counsel. If he gives you power without counsel, you may misuse that power.

That’s why he’s always directing us. The power and the might that He gives us is for the glory of God, is to glorify God and build people up and exhort people and lift others from mediocrity and obscurity, sickness and fear, and lift them to God’s standard, to God’s lifestyle of victory and triumph. Amen. That’s why we have these couplets here.

Romans 1:20“For since the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature have been clearly seen, being understood from His workmanship has been made so that people are without excuse.”

In other words, He’s saying that all these wonders from creation and everything that has been done so that God will show us his power so that we will be without excuse of who He is.

He’s showing us I am God, though still even many today refute the divinity of God. That God is real. God is still God.

Proverbs 1:7 “That the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instructions.”

When we have the knowledge, this knowledge that we know, like the knowledge you are gathering right now regarding the Holy Spirit is going to bring you into the fear of God, into the fear of the Holy Spirit. What I mean the fear of God or the Holy Spirit, I don’t mean that you are afraid of the Holy Spirit. It is the reverence you have for Him.

It is the honor. You’re going to revere God from a place of knowledge, knowing who He is, His nature, His character because you have knowledge, you are without excuse.  That’s what the scripture means. This is something that I pray every morning, that I will not lose my fear of the Lord. I will not get so familiar with God that I’m no longer trembling before His presence.

I engage the Spirit of the Fear of the Lord, the Spirit of Knowledge, but also the Spirit of the Fear of the Lord, to work that fear of God in me, day in and day out. That regardless of where I am, that that fear of the Lord is always there because that fear of the Lord leads me to knowledge, leads me to a lot of good things according to the scripture.

The Bible said, “but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”  In the fear of the Lord, we are instructed the way we should go. We are instructed what to let go and want to get ahold of. We are instructed because we have that fear, that reverence, fear. It’s not that we are afraid. That’s not what this is. There’s a difference between the fear of the Lord and being afraid.

Exodus 20:19-20. “This is what the children of Israel told Moses,” Speak to us yourself and we will listen, but do not have God speak to us or we will die.” Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. God has come to test you so that the fear of the Lord, the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning.”

We shouldn’t be afraid of God because when God comes is to test our hearts. Is to work that fear of God, that holy reverence, fear of God for who He is. Because that fear of the Lord is the one that going to keep us from sinning. From doing things we should not to be doing because we have that fear of the Lord. Who does that?

That is the Spirit of the Fear of the Lord. Did you realize that there is nothing that God is going to do that the Holy Spirit is not doing? I want you to put that in your Spirit and remember it, even the fear of the Lord. Maybe you’ve been trying so hard to please God and walk in the fear of God and tremble.

You cannot do it on your own. But if you surrender to the Holy Spirit and invite Him to work the fear of God in your heart and to lead you. He’s going to work the knowledge and the fear of the Lord in your life, so that you are walking in truth and knowledge of who God is.

You have the fear, the reverential fear, the honor and the glory. Others use the word respect, but that’s a light word. It is more than just respect that you have within you that will cause you to stop sinning and you to living a holy life. It is by the Spirit of the Fear of the Lord. Hallelujah!

Dear friend, as I finish this, I want to give you an opportunity to give your life to the Lord Jesus. To know the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, is the beginning of knowledge and understanding is the beginning of life. I mean, who are we without God?  If you are not a Christian, you have not surrendered your life over to Jesus, you can do so right now.

Prayer for salvation

Lord Jesus, I’m a sinner. I surrender my life over to you. Come into my heart. Be my Lord and my savior. Wash me with your precious blood. Write my name in the Book of Life. THE HOLY SPIRIT PT.8 – THE NAMES AND TITLES OF THE HOLY SPIRIT VIDEO TRANSCRIPTION

Hello, dear friend, and welcome back to the Kingdom Come broadcast with me, Andrew Nkoyoyo. We welcome all our audiences around the world as we continue with Part 8 of our study of Holy Spirit. Today’s topic is the names and the titles of the Holy Spirit. Have you ever wondered why there are so many names, in scripture, that refer to the Holy Spirit? In this study, we want to unpack everything about the Holy Spirit because I believe that you cannot really be equipped to be the disciple for Jesus, and the witness for Christ, that you need to be without knowing the Holy Spirit.

Right now, the Holy Spirit is the one on the earth who is supposed to bring together everything that Jesus has done on the cross to bring it into our lives, into our position, into our space, into our experience. It is crucial for us to know who the Holy Spirit is, what He does, and why is He here. Why is He part of the Godhead? Why is He the third person? We are going to break down these names and these titles. Let me tell you dear friend, it was like the veil came off when I began to read the Scriptures. Then I began to run into these different titles and names with which the Holy Spirit is really referred to, and I wondered why.

Then the Holy Spirit began to teach me, to show me and to reveal to me, there is a reason why. You can relate to Him through the titles and the names of the Holy Spirit and call Him them. You can ask him to interact with you, to engage with you, to minister to you according to those names and according to those titles. It’s not a coincidence that there are so many different names because He does so many different things and His names relate to His work. When we are done with the names and the titles, we are going to delve deep into the acts and the works of the Holy Spirit. That is when this whole thing is going to make sense to you, because it is crucial for you and I to know why these names.

Our theme scripture is Act 19:1-2 “While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There, he found some disciples and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? and they answered, “No, we have not even heard there’s a Holy Spirit.”

Dear friend, there are many in the church, they don’t know there’s a Holy Spirit. Others are aware of Holy Spirit, but they don’t know that the Holy Spirit is God, and they don’t know how to engage with Him. Our desire, here at this ministry, is to bring this light and to equip you for the work of service, for the work of ministry, and for you to live the life that God has created you to live, to make a difference.

Yet you cannot do anything apart from Holy Spirit. Let’s start with the most famous name that he’s known by the Holy Spirit. When you separate Holy and Spirit, holy because He is holy in His essence, in his nature, in His character, in Himself. He’s separate from anything that is unholy, that is wicked. Since He’s holy, He can search us, and he’s able to sanctify us. That’s why we will go deeper and talk about what He does in this area, but He’s holy and He’s also spirit. We delved into that in the Week 1 blog.   Let me give you some scriptures on this. Even from the Old Testament to the New Testaments

Holy Spirit.

Psalms 51 verse 11 “Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.”

In other words, the scripture implies that you never want to be out of the presence of God which is to be absent of the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit brings the very presence of God. The Father is in heaven and Jesus is seated at the right hand of God. The only way we are going to feel God, to know the presence of God is through Holy Spirit.

I mentioned this in the beginning, that when we talk about God, we are talking about the trinity. We’re talking about God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. If we are going to know God and feel God, we feel the presence because the Holy Spirit is that presence of God.

Do you realize this is the blessed breath of God? When we feel God, we are going to feel the presence of the Holy Spirit. David says, “Do not cast me away
,”

Matthew 1: 18. “This is how the birth of Jesus; the Messiah came about. His mother was married, was pledged to be married to Joseph, yet before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.”

Again, I’m just giving you scriptures that list out the name Holy Spirit. This may freak some people out, but you know, Jesus was conceived by Mary through the Holy Spirit. You could say the Son of God, is the same as the Son of the Holy Spirit. The power of the Holy Spirit came upon Mary, and she became pregnant but that’s another teaching altogether.

I just wanted to throw that out as to how powerful, how crucial for you to know. I remember  in the early days of my life and even now when I said, “God, bring about your vision in me.”  I went back to the title, we’re going to talk about it later, but I’ll just mention it because it just came to me about the power of the Most High. There was the power of the Most High, this Holy Spirit as the power of the Most High impregnated Mary.

That was God’s dream. That was God’s vision to bring about God’s destiny. Then the Holy Spirit one day said, “Andrew, ask for the power of the Most High to bring about My vision in your life.”  Did you get it? Let that sink in. The power of the Most High came over Mary, and Jesus was conceived into her womb. Anyway, I’m back now off that little soapbox.

Luke 11:13, “If you then though you even know how to give good, give good gifts to your children, how much more will your father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?”

Here he is. He’s a gift from the Father.

Matthew 3:11 “I baptize you with water for repentance, but after me comes one who is more powerful than I am, whose shoes I’m not worthy to carry. He’ll baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.”

Acts 15:28. “It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements.”

We see that the early church had this relationship. They knew the Holy Spirit. That is why this book could be renamed the Acts of Holy Spirit because it was the Holy Spirit really working through the early Church.

The next name we’re going to talk about, and title is this,

The Spirit.

Ruach (Hebrew word for spirit) means a wind, breath, violent, exhalation, blast, breath and pneuma (Greek word for spirit) means a current of air, blast breath, a strong breeze. Both these words, the Greek and the Hebrew pretty much have the same meaning for spirit. The Spirit is His breath, He’s the intangible, immaterial part of God.

And yet we can feel him, we can, He’s like wind. In the first episode, we broke down John 1:32.

“Then John gave this testimony. I saw the Spirit, come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him.”

He didn’t say, “I saw the Holy Spirit.” He said, “I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on Him.” I saw the very wind of God. I saw the very breath of God.

John 3:5 “Jesus answered, “Verily, I tell you the truth. No one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and of this spirit.”

You cannot be born again until the Spirit brings you in, until the Spirit convicts you.  You and I who are followers of Jesus, we are brought in, we are born again by the Spirit, it is crucial to know these titles because they relate to the work at different times, situations where God is working. And we see that how God the Spirit is manifesting himself. When we know, then we can engage with him.

In Ephesians 5:18 we are instructed and admonished to not to get drunk on wine, which leads to consumption, instead be filled with the Spirit, be filled with the very breath God.  Remember Pneuma or Ruach, blast of breath, the breath, the very breath of God. The Word tells us to be filled with the very breath of God. Be filled with the very wind of God. Let the wind of God carry you.

Let it be that the Spirit is the wind in you. Do you see it? No one can come into the kingdom until the wind of God blows him in, until the Spirit draws him in. Do you see how the Holy Spirit works? That is the name Spirit.

But then we want to talk about these names as they relate to God the Father.

My Spirit
God calls the Spirit, My spirit. It is very personal. He’s My spirit in this title. My spirit, first off, because He comes from Him, but also, He’s the extension of the Father. He’s the very essence of God.

Acts 2:17 “Afterwards, I’ll pour out my spirit on all flesh. Your sons and daughters will prophesize. Your old man will dream dreams. Your young men will see visions.”

God says,” My spirit is very personal.” God is giving you Himself. He says,” I’m going to pour.” Now, when people hear the word pour out, they think it is an actual pouring out. That is how it is depicted many times, but it means He is uncovering His Spirit.  It’s not like God is out there now just pouring the Holy Spirit. Like it looks though, in many paintings, in many pictures, that’s what is depicted. But when you really understand and to really get the full benefit of the scripture, you must understand what it means to pour.

He says, “I’m going to uncover, to discover my spirit to you.” Like in this teaching, God wants to discover the Holy Spirit to you. He wants to discover, to uncover, to reveal the Holy Spirit. And he says, in the end times, I am going to power out. I am going to uncover my spirit. You can know every essence, every part of the Holy Spirit, so you can better walk with him in Him and through him. Do you see it? And many people have, you know, kind of been put off when they hear an outpouring. An outpouring in this scripture in the full context means uncovering, the revealing of the Holy Spirit. God says, He is my spirit. He is personal to me, but I’m going to uncover him to you. I’m going to reveal him. I’m going to discover him to you.

Because when the Holy Spirit says, “Your sons and daughters are going to see visions. They’re going to prophesy. Your young men will see visions. Your old man will dream dreams. Your daughters are going to prophesy”. Why? Because they understand the Spirit. They know who He is, and they embrace Him out of revelation, out of understanding and out of knowledge.

Dear friend, this is the reason we do the ministry we do. The same reason we are laboring to teach this message, because God wants to uncover and He’s going to use somebody like me to uncover the spirit to you and as you are reading this, God is uncovering the Holy Spirit to you. Your job is to embrace the truth and to open yourself up and say, “God, I want all, everything that you have.”

Because He says, “I’m going to pour My Spirit on all flesh.” He wants all flesh, not just some people. He wants all flesh to be filled with the Spirit, to know the Spirit because the Spirit is the one who is going to anoint you. Many people want anointing. Many people have gone to prayer lines, to people. You have received prayer cloths from preachers, oil and everything.

While I would be happy to pray for you, you can only get the anointing through the Spirit.  You’ve got to understand to know the spirit. Because when the Spirit of God, when He’s uncovered and revealed to you, you begin to walk in Him in a greater measure, power and demonstration of His presence and of His power. Hallelujah!

Genesis 6:3, “Then the Lord said, “My spirit will not contend with humans forever, for they are mortal; their days will be 120 years.”

In other words, they are just mere men, people who are here today and gone tomorrow.  Humans die. And God says, “My spirit is not going on contend.”  Other versions say that He will not always strive with men because the Spirit of God is God’s very essence. Hope you put that in your spirit. Zechariah 4:6 Again, we are talking about the name, my spirit. I just want you to know how personal the Holy Spirit is to the Father. He calls in my spirit, when you hurt him, you are hurting the Father.

Zechariah 4:6 “So he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel, “Not by might nor by power but by My Spirit, “says the Lord Almighty.”

Listen to this, but by My Spirit says the Lord Almighty or says the Lord of Hosts. He says, “It is not by the cunning cleverness of man nor by the human arm of strength. It is by My Spirit.” But what I want you to really get ahold of is that personal connection that the Father and the Spirit have, that He calls Him, My Spirit.

“Anything that I’m going to do,” He says, “Zerubbabel, I have given you a commission to build this temple, but it’s not going to be by your power. It is going to be by my spirit working in you, and with you, and for you and through you.”

Dear friend, you need to get ahold of this. This is one of my favorite scriptures. God says, “It is by My Spirit.” If I want to know God, if I want to serve God, I need to know the very Spirit of God. This changed my life. He’s personal to God. He says it’s by My spirit. The living Bible says,” You have success, but by my spirit. “I want you to see the personal nature, the personal relationship of the Spirit to the Father.” Forgive me, it is the anointing of God.

Many people have missed out on God. Many people have rejected God because they reject the Holy Spirit and yet they cry out for God, but we see the personal relationship of the Holy Spirit. The Father, the Son. We are going to know God better. He says that it is not by the human arm of strength. Dear friend, what I do here, what we do in this ministry is not by might, is not by power but it is by My Spirit, by the spirit of God. Right now, I’m overcome by the Spirit of God, the presence of God. Get this. I am becoming the weeping preacher.

There is nothing that God is going to do that Holy Spirit is not doing. Absolutely nothing. As we go through these names and titles, I’m going to show you going all the way back to creation and forward to revelation, The Spirit has been active and is going to be active till the end. He is very personal. Before you shut out the Holy Spirit, just remember God says, “HE IS MY SPIRIT”.

When you shut out the Holy Spirit, you are shutting God out. When you reject him, you are rejecting God. I have heard many people crying out to God, yet when God comes, because He’s not coming in a way or the Holy Spirit is not manifesting Himself in a way that they want, or they understand. This all lines up with the theology. They reject the Holy Spirit and that means they reject God.  Remember God says, “He’s, My Spirit.” Thank you, Jesus.

The Spirit of God

The next name and title that I want to talk to you about is the Spirit of God. The Spirit of God is the title and the name that is associated with power, prophecy, and guidance throughout scripture.

God’s power.

Genesis 1:2 “Now the Earth was formless and empty. Darkness was over the surface of the deep. And the spirit of God was hovering over the waters” Making a way for creation. The Spirit of God.”

Do you want to know the power of God? You can connect with the Spirit of God. Do you see a dear friend, the Spirit of God was there in the beginning. Now He has already told us that He’s My Spirit. Now when it comes to His acts and the works, which we will delve in deeper in future broadcasts and blogs, we will see He is referred to by a different name because of what He’s doing.

He’s the Spirit of God, He’s representing God. The spirit of God comes to the scene. There is nothing God is going to do that the Spirit is not involved in.  Hope that makes sense. We want revival. We want transformation. We want reformation. We need to get back to knowing the Spirit of God.

Matthew 12:28. “But if it is by the Spirit of God that I drive out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.”

When you are driving out demons at that very moment, the Holy Spirit is operating and manifesting through you as the Spirit of God. We see it here. Jesus saying, If I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, do you see it? This is how crucial to know these titles. You can go over these messages over and over and then begin to practice them.

And as in your prayer time, begin to engage with the Holy Spirit, according to his names and his title, By the way, the name of somebody is the active presence. When you say spirit of God, you are calling the Spirit. You are relating to the Spirit by his name and title related to the work of prophecy, power, and guidance.

At that very moment, you are tapping into the prophetic power, Miracle working power, power for guidance, for direction and creative power. This exactly what happened in creation in Genesis, we saw the spirit of God clearing the chaos for light. And then God said,” Let there be light,” But first was the Spirit of God. Do you see it?

Prophecy.

1 Samuel 10:10, “When he and his servants arrived at Gideath a procession of prophets met him (meaning Saul). The spirit of God came powerfully upon him, and he joined to prophesy, the spirit of God.”

Power came upon him, and he went from being the king to a prophet, to prophesying and really, he mistook his role, but he came under the Spirit of God and he prophesied for that moment with the other prophets. The he let it go to his head thinking that he’s always going to perform the ministry of the prophet, which got him into big trouble. But the point I’m making here is, the Spirit of God was releasing prophecy.

2 Chronicles 24:20 “Then the Spirit of God came on Zechariah, the son of Jehoaida, the priest. He stood before the people and said, “This is what God says. “Why do you disobey the Lord’s commands? You will not prosper because you have forsaken the Lord. He has forsaken you,”

Again, for these are prophetic words given by the Spirit of God. When you are experiencing prophetic revelation, prophetic power, at that very moment, it is the Spirit of God. Do you need to receive prophetic words, you need to tap into the prophetic, connect with the spirit of God. Does that make sense? This is there for a reason to show us these patterns on how the Holy Spirit worked and how he operates and manifests Himself.

Ezekiel 11:24, “The Spirit lifted me up and brought me into the exiles in Babylonia, in the vision given by this Spirit of God, Then the vision I had seen went up from me.”

Here is guidance and prophecy. Ezekiel is seeing prophetic visions by the Spirit of God. The spirit of God is communicating the will of God, the revelation of God, the secrets of God to you,

Guidance
Romans 8:14, “For those who are led by the spirit of God, are the children of God.”

Again, when we need guidance, we can reach out. There’s nothing weird or spooky about this. We can talk to the Holy Spirit, Welcome the Holy Spirit. “Spirit of God, I yield, and I surrender to you. Guide me into the way I need to go. Teach me what I need to do next.” That is the spirit of God.

1 Corinthians 3:16, (reminds us that our body is the temple of God).  “Don’t you know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?”

Did you hear that? Who dwells in you? The spirit of God? You are God’s temple because the Spirit of God, the Spirit of the Trinity, the Spirit of the triune God dwells in you.

If the spirit of the triune God dwells in you, then you have access to power, creative power, guidance, prophecy, and much more. You have the Spirit of God in you, then He’s going to manifest Himself to you and through you according to the names and the titles that we see that are related to His work. Isn’t that marvelous?

Spirit of the Lord

Now, let’s look at the Spirit of the LordThe spirit of the Lord is related to the redemptive work and acts of the Lord. YAHWEH.

Yahweh, the God who reveals Himself.  The seven redemptive miracles, the seven redemptive names of God. Well, Yahweh, this is the Spirit of the Lord. Now He’s been the Spirit of God. Now, He’s going to reveal Himself as the Spirit of the redemptive God, the redemptive Lord God. Yahweh.

Judges 6:34, “Then the Spirit of the LORD took possession of Gideon. He blew a ram’s horn as a call to arms, and the men of the clan of Abiezer came to him”

Remember, the whole story, Gideon was chosen to go fight the enemies of God. They needed victory. Here we see the Lord, Jehovah Nissi, the Lord our victory. He comes. But how does He come? The Spirit of the Lord, the Spirit of Yahweh comes on him and empowers him to go have the victory. Do you see it? It is the spirit of the Lord. When we are going into battle, we need the spirit of the Lord. When we need victory, the redemptive and works of God will look to the Holy Spirit to manifest himself as the Spirit of the Lord, and to work with us and for us and through us. Hallelujah!

Isn’t that wonderful! God has a solution for everything that we’ll ever encounter, and He has given us the greatest weapon and the greatest partner, the greatest warrior, the greatest friend in the Holy Spirit. But that’s why the Bible says in the end times he’s going to reveal, He’s going to pour out, why?

Because for us to be, the church, and I mean the church, I mean you and me, that transforms culture, society, we need to know the Holy Spirit. We need to know the Spirit and everything that He is now. We know Him as the Spirit of the Lord, the Spirit that is going to give us victory, bring us into victory, and lead us into victory. PRAISE THE LORD!

In Judges 7, you’ll see that when people gathered, after Gideon blew the trumpet, the Spirit told him, “You’ve got too many men. I want to get the glory.” Gideon had to reduce the numbers. How is Gideon going through this? If you remember the story, when the angel appeared to Gideon, Gideon tells the Lord, “I’m a nobody. I come from the weakest clan in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.” In other words, he says, “God, you’ve got the wrong guy. I mean, I’m the least qualified. I’m the list likely to succeed.” And God says, “My Spirit, the Spirit of the Lord will be with you.” Do you see? And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he goes from this nobody that he thinks he is, to becoming the commander in chief and not only just a commander in chief, but a winning victorious commander in chief against the three armies that had surrounded God’s people.

Why? The Spirit of the Lord, of the redemptive God, Hallelujah! I hope dear friend, you are getting this. I love it. I hope, I hope you are devouring this, and getting the picture.

Isaiah 59:19, “So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the West and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy comes in like a flood, when the enemy is coming against you, here is the key, the spirit of the Lord, the Lord Jehovah Nissi, the Lord, your Victory, the Spirit of the Lord will lift his standard against him.” (emphasis added)

When you are going through hell and high waters, reach out to the spirit of the Lord. Hallelujah. Cause he is going to be the one raising a standard against your enemies. It doesn’t matter where you are right now, what you’re going through, call upon the Spirit of the Lord.

Release the spirit of the Lord. Invite the spirit of the Lord in your battles, in your warfare, whatever is going on, you will have victory if you know who to engage. Engage the Spirit of the Lord. Hallelujah.

Listen to this, When I started ministry, this was my mission statement, and I think this summarizes what we are all about. “The spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me.” Remember I told you; I’m going to show you who anoints you. The spirit of the Lord is the one who anointed you.

Luke 4:18 “The spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor. This is Jesus telling us how he was anointed and who anointed him the Spirit of the Lord. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty or freedom to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed and to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

By whom? Yes, the Spirit of the Lord. Remember the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the Spirit of the Lord, the Spirit of Yahweh, the redemptive God. The Spirit of the Lord comes to bring redemption reality into our lives, into our time, our space, our position, our environment, our churches, our families, our ministries, our marriages, anywhere and everywhere.

The Spirit of the Lord. Do you want to be anointed? Get to know the spirit of the Lord. Hallelujah. Jesus says, “The spirit of the Lord is upon me because He has anointed me. “

This is not rocket science. This is simple. There’s no mystery, there’s nothing spooky about it. There’s nothing weird about it. This is the Bible. This is how we get anointed. I’m equipping you to be a revivalist, a transformer and a nation changer. To be dangerous to the kingdom of Satan.

Why? Because people perish for lack of knowledge. When you can walk in faith, you can walk in courage and boldness because you know, but people who don’t know, they perish. They let the devil beat them up. Don’t let the devil beat you up. The Spirit of the Lord is already upon you. Get to know him daily. Invite him to raise his standard. Look to him, trust him.

2 Corinthians 3:17 “Now the Lord, the Lord Yahweh is the spirit and where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”

Did you hear that? The Lord is spirit. and where the Spirit of the Lord, the Spirit of Yahweh, the redemptive God, there is freedom. If there’s anything that   is part and parcel of the redemptive package, the spirit of the Lord is going to bring it to happen into your life. But we need to know Him, and we need to trust Him, to believe in Him.

In my book, Catch and Release God’s Supernatural I talk about the Holy Spirit. How do you engage? Basically, these are the same steps that you engage with his names and his titles in different areas. You follow the same steps that I teach in Catch and Release God’s Supernatural. The Spirit of the Lord, He’s there, but we miss out because we don’t know Him that way.

Many people are going through battles on their own, and they’re crying out, “God help me”. But he said,” I’ve given you the Holy Spirit. He’s the spirit of the Lord. He’s my spirit, and he’s going to raise a standard.”  You need to invite him into those battles and into those places and those times, of warfare, of confrontation,

The Spirit of The Living God

The next name I’m going to talk to you about is The Spirit of the Living God. Now, The Spirit of the Living God brings the life of God first and foremost into our lives. He brings that life and makes it real within us, but also, He brings the Word of God to life. He makes God, become real. He goes from being some mystical person out there in the clouds to being personal. It’s like you are feeling Him, the Spirit of the Living God, He makes him alive. And the third thing he does, He makes believers  living epistles that others can see, others look at and say, “No, ever since you became a Christian, there’s something different about you. I know you, but there’s something different about you.”

As a matter of fact, that’s how a few of my high school friends, my childhood friends get saved. They said, “Brother, I need to know. I knew you before, but this is not how you used to behave, how you used to look. There’s something different. There is a glow and there’s, this change. Well, what is the secret? Then?  I introduced them to Jesus and then in the end, they wanted the same Jesus that I had. Why? Because the spirit of God came into my life, and it made me a living epistle. The life of Jesus became alive and then my life became a living epistle.

2 Corinthians 3:1-6. “Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need like some people letters of recommendation to you or from you? You yourselves are our letters written on our hearts known and read by everyone?

You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the Living God, not on tablets of stone, but on tablets of human hearts. Such confidence we have through Christ before God, knowing that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything of ourselves, but our competence comes from God. He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant. Not of the letter but of the spirit for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. Paul saying, “We don’t need letters of recommendation. We don’t need for others to say these great things about us. You, yourselves our letters written by the spirit of the Living God.”

In other words, you are the fruit of our ministry. And the spirit of the living God has made you alive and well in Christ. That there is a difference, there is a tangible, visible difference in your life. And that’s what the spirit of the Living God does.

He brings the life of God and makes it a life within us. He makes us beam with the life of Jesus. And then he transforms us to be that living epistle that others read, to be that person that others look at. And they say, “Wow, God has done a work in your life. I want what you have”. Has anyone ever told you that, I want what you have? That is the work of the Spirit of the living God. Amen.

The Power of the Most High or the Power of the Highest.
And the last name and title that I want to talk to you about is the Power of the Most High or the Power of the Highest.

Isaiah 7:14. “Therefore, the Lord Himself will give you a sign. The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son and he’ll and will call him Immanuel.”

Now, this is a prophecy of Jesus. Fulfillment came hundreds of years later.

Luke 1 34, 35, “The angel comes to Mary and Mary says, “How will this be>? Mary asked the angel, “Since I’m a virgin?” The angel answered,” The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. The Holy One to be born will be called the Son of God.”

Okay, now, if we read it in the new King James, it says, Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be since I do not know a man? “And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the Power of the Highest will overshadow you. Therefore, also that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.”

The Power of the Highest gives birth to God’s destiny, God’s dream into our lives. I told you at the beginning that I remember when the Holy Spirit turned on these lights. He came on, I got it.

And I began to cry out for the Power of the Highest to plant that vision, that dream, God’s dream, to birth it within me for what God wants, not mine, but what God wants. And it turned out that what I wanted was what? God. They were very different. And the power of the Highest hit me. And He touched me, and I was pregnant with God’s vision for the nations.

Suddenly I went from thinking locally to thinking nationally and globally. The power of the highest will give birth in your life the same way it overshadowed Mary. It’ll overshadow your life and give birth to God’s dream, God’s vision. That is the Holy Spirit revealing himself as the vision giver, as the destiny birther. If you please, He’ll birth it, He will conceive it and birth it, and then deliver it. Hallelujah.

Dear friend, before we finish this blog, I want to give you an opportunity to give your life to Jesus. Thank you for reading this blog and staying with me throughout this teaching.

But if you’re watching and you don’t know Jesus, you don’t have a relationship, you need that relationship to enjoy all the things that we are teaching today. The first step to this ladder is to know Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Would you pray this prayer with me from your heart? Meaning from your heart,

Prayer of Salvation

Lord Jesus, I believe in what you did on the cross. I know and confess that I’m a sinner and I need you as my savior. Would you please come into my heart, wash me with your precious blood, write my name in the book of life. I confess that you are the son of God, and that God raised you from the dead. Today I am saved, born again. I turn over my life over to you. Fill me with your Holy Spirit and empower me to do your will from this day, hence forth. Amen.

Dear friend, you have said that prayer and Jesus has come into your heart. You are a Christian, and you can begin to partake into what I’m talking about. You can begin to enjoy the relationship and the presence and the power of the Holy Spirit.

THE HOLY SPIRIT PT.7 THE PERSON OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

THE HOLY SPIRIT PT.7 – THE PERSON OF THE HOLY SPIRIT VIDEO TRANSCRIPTION

Hello. Thank you, friend for joining us here on Kingdom Come Broadcast. This is Andrew Nkoyoyo and thank you for joining me today. We are studying the Holy Spirit. This is part seven, the Person of the Holy Spirit. Our theme. scripture

Acts 19:1-2 “While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived Ephesus. There, he found some disciples and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believe?” They answered, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”

Dear friend, because of this problem we are doing this in-depth series to bring understanding, knowledge, and clarity regarding the Holy Spirit. I believe that when we know the truth regarding the Holy Spirit, there is a lot more that we are going to enjoy.

We are going to tap into all that God has for us, because it’s not by might, not by power but it is by the Holy Spirit. We have covered a great deal. If this is your first time reading this blog, I invite you to go back to part one, Part one defines where the Holy Spirit gets His name? Holy Spirit. We defined that word, Spirit. In Part 2, we talked about the meaning of Pentecost, and in the next part we talked about spiritual gifts.

Each part is building on the previous part to enable you to have understanding. Another part talks about the baptism in the Holy Spirit. We have also talked about the blessings of praying in tongues, and that’s a crucial hot topic for many. We have gone through the scripture and, and really broken it down to show you that it is scripture to pray in your private time in your private prayer language that God has given you.  Especially crucial for you in your growth, in your work, and how it brings you into the operations of the Holy Spirit, His gifts and His power.

In part six, we have talked about the deity or the divinity of the Holy Spirit, and we have vindicated him that he is God.  Today we are going to vindicate him as, as a person. And this is glorious because when you understand that the Holy Spirit is also God and is also a person, then really you can begin to interact and engage with him.

  1. The Holy Spirit has an intellect.

He has an intellect. In other words, he has understanding wisdom, knowledge of things.

1 Corinthians 2:10-11 “These other things God has revealed to us by his Spirit, such as all things, even the deep things of God for who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them. In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God, except the Spirit of God.

The Spirit of God searches because He knows, He knows what He’s looking for.  The spirit of God is a person. Only a person has understanding. Only a person can search.  The spirit of God is author of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. As I’m going to show you here.

1 Corinthians 12:8 NIV To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit”

He’s the author of wisdom, of knowledge, of understanding. You cannot give something you don’t have. The Holy Spirit is the author of wisdom. The Bible calls Him that and we’re going to discover later as we talk about His work and all that He will do for you.

He’s the author of wisdom. He’s the spirit of wisdom.

He has wisdom. Why? Because He’s a person and has those attributes, He has attributes within Him. They are part of His nature. They are part of who He is. He searches, the Bible says, the deep things of God. Now, let’s back track here for a second. When we say God, we mean God, the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit. He searches the heart of the Father. He searches the heart of Jesus. Then He reveals those things because He has understanding, He has knowledge, He has wisdom. He knows what he’s looking for, and He takes those things because he has intellect, and he reveals those things as you need them, as God wants you to know them and to understand them so you can walk in them.  Amen?

Isaiah 11:2 “The spirit of the Lord will rest on him again. The Spirit of wisdom and of understanding the Spirit of Counsel, the Spirit of might the Spirit of Knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.

Here we are vindicating this idea that He has wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. This was a prophetic word about Jesus, and it talks about that the Holy Spirit, and is related to His work, but also to His names and His titles. It’s beautiful because He’s a person. These attributes that are ascribed to a person,

1 Timothy 4:1 “Now, the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times, some will turn away from the true faith. They’ll follow deceptive spirits, teachings that come from demons.”

Again, we see here that the Spirit is telling us because he has understanding, and wisdom.  The spirit of wisdom is the one that has full knowledge, foresight of things to come. Things that are in the future. Things that have not happened. We see here that the Spirit revealed to us what’s going to happen in the latter times. What’s going to happen among believers. Some are going to fall away. Some are going to follow the doctrine of demons and so forth,

1 Peter 1:11 “They wondered what time or situation the spirit of Christ within them was talking about when he told them in advance about Christ suffering and his great glory.”

Afterwards, remember the Spirit of Christ that was in them, in the believers, talked to them in advance about the sufferings of Christ. Again, He has intellect. In part six, we discussed His prescience (knowing something before it happens)), and His omniscience(all-knowing) and He is omnipotent or all powerful. He knows the future, and He has infinite knowledge of the past, the present, and the future. These are attributes that I want to really lay out to you to help you to really embrace this reality of the person of the Holy Spirit.

He has understanding. He knows things. He knows what you go through. He knows what I go through. He knows really the heart of the Father and the heart of Jesus for you.  Remember that whatever that the Father has and whatever Jesus has, the Holy Spirit is the one who’s going to reveal it to you, that’s why this is crucial for us to understand this, really get hold of this truth, because then we can begin to yield and cultivate that relationship.

I will show you how to begin to engage the Holy Spirit in a much deeper and personal way,

2 Peter 1:21 For prophecy, it never had its origin in the human will, but prophets though human spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit really wrote the Bible, we see the Holy Spirit, revealing everything that the Bible says.  The Holy Spirit inspired the prophetic, the prophets, what they said, it was inspired, It originated from the Holy Spirit because he has knowledge, he has understanding, and he has wisdom. He’s all knowledge. He has infinite knowledge. He has knowledge of the past, knowledge of the present, and knowledge of the future.

2. The Holy Spirit has a Will.

This is the most important point because with His will, He acts voluntarily with freedom and choice. We see that again in

1 Corinthians 2:11 “For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them. In the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God”

He has his own will, and He searches, He reveals things voluntarily and freely. He has choice of freedom to give, to release things to us, to give gifts to us. As we will discover The Holy Spirit has a will, and let’s take it further,

In Acts 20:28. “Guard, yourselves and God’s people. Feed and shepherd God’s flock, His church purchased with his own blood over, which (listen to this), the Holy Spirit has appointed you as leaders.”

The Holy Spirit in His infinite will, in His divine will, in His choice, He appointed leaders. Now, we see here that leaders in the New Testament church, they were appointed by the Holy Spirit. As a matter of fact, we are going to read when He commissions Paul, and Barnabas into ministry, out of His choice, out of His will. Why? That’s probably the most important aspect that makes up a person is not only His intellect, but also His will of choice. He has a will, and He can choose freely and voluntarily. We see that the Holy Spirit works, as He hears from the Father, from Jesus and also out of his will.  Hallelujah!

  1. The Holy Spirit has Power

Job 33:4 “The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life.”

Another property of a person is that you have power, I have power. Holy Spirit has power. God has given us energy, has given power and might within us to be able to function, to be able to live life, to do things. The Holy Spirit has power, and part of that power is He has power to create. Like we said in the previous episode, the power to create is really the work of divinity. Only God can create. We see that the Holy Spirit is not only God, but now as a person, he has power.

Isaiah 11:2 The spirit of the Lord will rest on him. The spirit of wisdom, knowledge, understanding spirit of counsel and might, and the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord,

Micah asks, is the spirit restricted?

Micah 2:7 “You who are named the House of Jacob. Is the Spirit of the Lord restricted? Are these his doings? Do not my words do good to him who walks uprightly?”

In other words, the Spirit of God is not restricted in His will, in His freedom. He is not. We see the answer in Micah 3:8, But truly, I am full of power by the Spirit of the Lord and of justice and to declare to Jacob his transgression and to Israel his sin.

The Holy Spirit has power as a person within Him, and He can act with power.

Ephesians 3:15 “I pray that out of his glorious riches, He may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner beings”

The Holy Spirit can strengthen us with power because he has power within himself. He is power, and He has power within himself to act and to do things of might and of power.

  1. The Holy Spirit has Emotions.

That’s another property that makes up a person. He loves and can be loved.

Romans 15: 30 “I urge you, brothers and sisters, by our Lord Jesus Christ, and by the love of this Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me.”

Dear friend, how I have known this love of the Spirit, His care, His tenderness, and His gentleness. He has emotions and that’s a property of a person. He can love and He can be loved. That’s why even in the Bible, when He descended, He descended in the form of a dove. This physical form representing His purity, His innocence, but also His gentleness.

He’s easily hurt and wounded.  That brings me to the next point about emotions.

He can be grieved, He can be hurt, He can feel sorrow, He can be wounded.

That’s why the apostle in Ephesians 4:30 admonishes us saying, “Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God with whom you are sealed for the day of redemption.”

He can be grieved. Only a person can be hurt. Only a person can be grieved. Only a person can feel sorrow, can feel wounded. If the Holy Spirit was only an influence or a quality that emanated from the Father, like many say, then you cannot hurt a quality. You cannot hurt an influence. Yet because He’s a person, He can be grieved, He can be hurt.

The Bible talks about vexing and resisted the Holy Spirit.

  1. The Holy Spirit can be resisted.

Acts 7:51, “You stiff-necked people. Your hearts and ears are still uncircumcised.  You are just like your ancestors. You always resist the Holy Spirit.”

Why? Because He’s a person. They always resisted the Holy Spirit; you cannot resist an influence. You cannot resist a quality.

  1. The Holy Spirit can be rebelled against and vexed.

The Israelites rebelled against Him and vexed Him.

Isaiah 63:10-11 “Now, yet they rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit. They hurt him so he turned and became their enemy, and he himself fought against them. Then his people recall the days of old and the days of Moses and his people were, where is he who brought them through the sea, with the shepherd of his flock? Where is he who said his Holy Spirit among them?”

When they grieved him, He basically turned away. He just pulled back and that’s what happens even today, because we don’t know what He likes or because of our ignorance, or our sin, or our disobedience. We grieve the Holy Spirit. When we repeatedly and consistently grieve the Holy Spirit, He turns away.  He withdraws because He can get hurt, He can be wounded, He can be grieved.

7. The Holy Spirit is said to be tempted or tested.

You can only tempt a person.

In Acts 6:5:9-10 “Then Peter said unto her, “How is it that, that you have agreed to get an attempt, the spirit of the Lord, behold the feet of them, which have buried your husband are at the door, and they shall carry you out.”

This was Sapphira. When she came and she lied to the Holy Spirit and her husband had done the same before her, each fell and died. The whole point is they were tempting the Holy Spirit. You can only tempt a person; you can only test a person.

8. The Holy Spirit is said to be blasphemed or can be blasphemed.

Matthew 12 31, 32 “And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the spirit will not be forgiven. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven either in this age or in the age to come.”

Again, you cannot blaspheme a quality that emanates from the Father, you can blaspheme Him, a person, Dear friend, I’m just giving you this truth to inform your faith, your beliefs. I desire that you embrace the Holy Spirit. He’s a person.

  1. The Holy Spirit can be quenched.

1 Thessalonians 5:19 “Do not quench (right here, the apostle, by the spirit of God, really commands us). Do not quench the spirit. He uses the imagery of putting out a fire.  Do not put him out. Do not quench him.  Again, you cannot quench a quality, but you can quench or put out, ignore, neglect, and put off the Holy spirit.  That’s what this means.  Do not quench him.

10. The Holy Spirit is called the Comforter.

This is a title and name given to a person. Only a person can comfort another person

John 14:16 “Jesus says, And I will pray the Father and he’ll give you another comforter that he may abide with you forever, even the spirit of truth whom the world cannot receive because it sees him not neither knows him, and for He dwells with you and shall be in you.”

Again, the Holy Spirit is a person. That’s why He’s our comforter. He’s our guide. He’s our teacher. Only a person can comfort, can teach, can guide, or can lead you. Only a person can do these things.  Are you beginning to see, Dear friend? The Holy Spirit is a comforter because he’s a person. These came from the words of Jesus, right?  Words written in red, I am sure, in your Bible and mine.

Remember we said that the Holy Spirit has a will.

  1. The Holy Spirit commissions.

We see here He commissions Barnabas and Saul.

Acts 13:2,4 “While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting the Holy Spirit said,” Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”

Now, see, the pronoun set apart for me. He’s speaking with authority. Out of His will and His commissioning. He said, “Set apart for me.” He didn’t say, “Set apart for God, set apart for Jesus.” He said, “Set apart for me, Barnabas and Saul for the work that I have called them.”  Verse 4 goes on, “And the two of them sent on their way by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia and sailed from there to Cyprus. He has a will to commission. He has a will to call us and to commission us.

And they went down to Seleucia and sailed from there to Cyprus. Dear friend, we see the person of the Holy Spirit. He has understanding. He has all these qualities that you and I have. Again, we see here that the Holy Spirit is the one that commissions ministers. Now listen to this portion of scripture, we see that he commissioned those in the New Testament Church.

Acts 20:28, “Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Not that distinction. The Holy Spirit made them overseers. He’s a person with a will acting voluntarily with freedom and choice. He calls and He commissions. We see that He commissions these overseers, these leaders or bishops to be shepherds of the church of God, which He bought with his own blood. Again, we see these 10 points that I’ve just presented, vindicating the person of the Holy Spirit.

You may ask, “Brother, so what?” This is the so what.

  • When you settle within you the truth about His deity and His person, you begin to worship the Holy Spirit, the same way you worship the Father, the same way you worship Jesus.

Holy Spirit is God the Spirit and never feel guilty about believing that.

  • Then you begin to love him. You begin to know his love as you love him. Tell Him, “Holy Spirit, I long to love you. I love to love you.”

Oh, dear friend, how he longs for your love. And when you begin to talk to him, begin to love him and begin to be intimate with him, you are going to know his love, his care. He’s going to bring you into the abundant, ever flowing love of God the Father, God the Son. Oh, hallelujah. Oh, dear friend, I’m so excited for us. This is beautiful.

  • When you know His deity and His person, you begin to obey him. You obey him out of knowledge, out of love and honor.
  • When you know Him, you begin to honor him.

You begin to respect Him. You give Him a higher place in your life. You don’t put Him off anymore because now you realize, He’s God, He’s a person and he longs for that intimate relationship.

  • And when you know His deity and person, you begin to build a friendship with him.

You begin to fellowship, you begin to commune, to partner with him, and He partners back with you in all things. This is crucial for you because when we settle this reality, this truth in our hearts, and in our lives, it opens up the floodgates of all that the Spirit of God is and has and does for the glory of God.

Jesus said,” I am going, but the Holy Spirit is going to come, and He is going to lead you into all truth.”

Why? Because he’s personal. He wants to guide you on your personal journey, your work, your Christianity and it is different than mine. The things that God wants to teach me, they may be different than you, but the Holy Spirit has this personal journey for you, and He wants to lead you and guide you to bring you into the depth of God, into the depth of the love of God, the grace of Jesus Christ into the depth and fullness of his love and power. He wants to make you the life changer, the transformer, the revivalist, He wants to change your life so that you may glorify God.

Dear friend, I want to invite you to give your heart to the Lord. If you are reading this and you don’t have a relationship with Jesus, listen, right now to what the Holy Spirit is speaking to you as you have been reading this message. If you don’t have a relationship with Jesus, you can begin one today. All you need to do is to confess Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Pray this simple prayer with me. Say it as you mean it from your heart, and Jesus is going to come into your life.

Salvation Prayer

Lord Jesus, I confess that I’m a sinner. I have fallen short of your glory. Come into my life. Wash me with your blood. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Empower me with your power and anointing to do your will from this moment going forward. I am yours. I turn over my life to you from this day going forward.

THE HOLY SPIRIT PT.10 THE NAMES AND TITLES OF THE HOLY SPIRIT PT.3

THE HOLY SPIRIT PT.6 GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT

THE HOLY SPIRIT PT.6 – GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT VIDEO TRANSCRIPTION

Hello, dear friend, and welcome to Kingdom. Come with me, Andrew Nkoyoyo. Thank you for joining us. We are continuing this study of the Holy Spirit. We have covered five lessons so far. Today this is Part 6, entitled, God, the Holy Spirit.  Today we are going to explore the divinity of the Holy Spirit, the deity of the Holy Spirit. Is he God, or is He not? I believe by the time we’re done with this study today; we’re going to give you the scriptures that will inform you, will give you understanding and increase your knowledge so you can better relate and better pursue the friendship of the Holy Spirit. He is already with you, and you can pursue all that the Holy Spirit is, has and will do in you, for you and through you.

Let’s read Acts 19:1-2, our theme scripture for this study,

“While Apollos was in Corinth, Paul traveled through the interior regions until he reached Ephesus, on the coast, where he found several believers.[a]  “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” he asked them. “No,” they replied, “we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”

Dear friend, the same problem they had in Paul’s day exists today.  There are many people around the world who do not know that there is a Holy Spirit, and there are many believers who have not really experienced the Holy Spirit, the way the Bible teaches, and the way God intends for us to experience, the Holy Spirit. We want to cover several points and I’m going to share different ideas here with you today to vindicate the Holy Spirit. He IS God.   Let’s begin with Matthew 28:19-20, because within this verse is the foundation of all worship; of all honor, of all obedience to God.

This is called the Great Commission

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, in the name of the son, Jesus Christ and in the name of the Holy Spirit”

Here we see the Trinity involved and before we are done, I’m going to show you another area where the Trinity worked together. For everything that happens in your life, in our lives, or from creation till the return of Christ involves the trinity.

  1. It is the foundation of all worship, honor and obedience to God wrapped up in this very truth.

Jesus is telling us that as you go to preach and teach. It is heresy if I preach and teach just in the name of Jesus or, or in the name of the Father, or only in the name of the Holy Spirit. He says, as you go and teach baptize, bring people.  Do you remember in the last lesson we talked about the baptisms and one of them was that we are baptized into the body of Christ?

As we are baptizing them, as we are bringing people into the family of God, they make this public proclamation that they are followers of Jesus. He says that as you baptize them, bring them into my house, into my family, do it in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, because God is one in three persons.  This is evidence that the Holy Spirit is God and is treated in the same regard, respect and honor as the Father, and the Son. The verse goes on to say that I’m teaching them to obey everything I’ve commanded you. Surely, I am with you always, even to the very end of the age. Dear friend, this is the first truth. I believe the foundation of everything that we do as a New Testament church is the great commission, the reaching and the preaching of the gospel, and the baptizing people into the body of Christ in the name of the Father, Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

2. The Holy Spirit is expressly called God.

Acts 5:3-4 “Then Peter said, this is to Ananais. How is it that Satan has so fueled your heart, that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? Did it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, was not the money at your disposal. What made you think of doing such a thing? Now, here it is. You have not lied just to human beings, but to God.”

In this portion of scripture, we see that Peter is telling Ananais that he has lied to the Holy Spirit. Then he concludes by saying, you have lied to God. Why? Because the Holy Spirit is God, and do you remember what happened after that? Do you know the rest of the story?  Ananais died immediately after committing the sin of lying to God, more specifically lying to the Holy Spirit and God’s judgment was cast against that lie.

3. The Holy Spirit is called Lord.

The name “Lord” is a name ascribed to a divine being.  He’s called Lord.

2 Corinthians 3:17-18 “Now the Lord is this spirit and where the spirit of the Lord is there is freedom.”

Do you want freedom in your life? He says, now the Lord is spirit. Jehovah is spirit. God who reveals Himself is spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom. The spirit of the Lord is a title given to the Holy Spirit. I’m going to put it together for you to show you that all these relate to not only His person, but also His nature, His work and His divinity.

The Lord is spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. We all who with unveiled faces con contemplate the Lord’s glory are being transformed into his image with ever increasing glory, which comes again, here it is from the Lord who is the Spirit. Dear friend, this truth should settle any doubts that you may have in your mind about the Holy Spirit being Lord and being God and that we are being transformed. How is this transformation happening by the Lord? This Lord is the Spirit, the Transformer, the one who transforms us into the very image of Jesus is the Lord. And then by the spirit, Paul tells us that He is the one who transforms us.

Let’s look at a few verses in the Old Testament and the New Testament to show you this., Here is a promise that God made. Now, remember God oversaw the Old Testament church. When they wanted to talk to God, He would talk to them either through prophets or through judges or through priests and those who are appointed. The dispensations of the divinity, we had God, the Father, in charge of the Old Testament church. We have the dispensation of the son when Jesus came. He walked on the earth, the disciples talked with him, you know, and he went, they went to him for answers. And now we are in the dispensation of the Holy Spirit, meaning that it is the Holy Spirit now, who is on the earth. Like we have talked already when we talked about the Pentecost, when he came down and Jesus said, I’m going, but he’s going to come.

We are in that dispensation. If you haven’t read the other blogs preceding this one, one to five, please go back and read them because they give you context. These episodes build one on another and you have a better understanding.  God promised in Leviticus, I’m talking about God, the Father specifically. Keep this in mind that when we talk about God, we are talking about God, the Father, God, the Son and God, the Holy Spirit.

Leviticus, 26:11-12, (This is God the Father) “I’ll put my dwelling place among you. I’ll not abhor you. I’ll walk among you and be your God. And you’ll be my people.”

This is a promise that God, the Father makes in Leviticus.  Now let’s contrast that with and compare that with this scripture in the New Testament. We see the fulfillment of this in 2 Corinthians 6:16,

“What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols for? We are the temple of the living, God.   and as God has said, I’ll live with them and work among them and I’ll be their God. And they will be my people. “

How, and by whom is, is God doing that?

As 1 Corinthians 3:16-17, “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?”

Again, we are talking about God and if anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person for God’s temple is sacred. You, he says, you are God’s temple because God’s Spirit lives in you. Do you see the, the contrast?  In the Old Testament, we see the promise that is now is being fulfilled because now it says now you are His temple. In the Old Testament,

Leviticus 26: 11 -12. I’ll put my dwelling among you. And I’ll not abhor you I’ll walk among you and be your God and you’ll be my people.”

Now it speaks of the fulfillment of this promise. We see it here in the New Testament, by God’s spirit who dwells in you and I right now, God makes his dwelling place in us. We are his temple. Why? Because God, the Spirit is in us

Let’s talk about how he led them in the wilderness

Deuteronomy 32: 12, “The Lord led them, no foreign God was with them.”

Again, we’re going to compare this with Isaiah 63: 14,

Like cattle that go down to the plain, they were given rest by the Spirit of the Lord.”

Remember He was leading in the beginning?  It says that God, the Lord, God led them. Now it says that they were given rest. You see God and then the Spirit. This is how He guided them, guided your people to make for yourself a glorious name. Let that sink in dear friend. When we see in the Old Testament, we see God, the Father, but then the fulfillment of that for us, New Testament believers, we see that the Holy Spirit now has come. Do you know why?

Because He’s God, and this is His dispensation of the Spirit. Let’s read here about when they sinned against God and see what happens.

Psalm 78 :17 -18 “ but they continue to sin against him. (Meaning God, the Father) rebelling in the wilderness against the Most High. They willfully put God to the test by demanding the food they craved.”

Again, we see that now in Isaiah 63: 10 – 11, listen to this. “They rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit.”

Now, before he just said, God, now it goes to specific to show us that the Holy Spirit is God.

Isaiah 63: 10 – 11  “Yet they rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit. So he turned and became their enemy and he himself fought against them. 11 Then his people recalled[a] the days of old, the days of Moses and his people— where is he who brought them through the sea, with the shepherd of his flock? Where is he who set his Holy Spirit among them”

See, they rebelled. And they vexed the Holy Spirit. Before they said they sinned against God.   I want to give you all these contexts for you to contrast and compare and see that the Holy Spirit is God.  All throughout scripture, He has been from the beginning, and He is, and He is to come.

  1. The Holy Spirit is called the eternal spirit.

Hebrews 9:14 “Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciousness from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God for, by the power of the Eternal Spirit.”

Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins. It was through the eternal spirit. The Holy Spirit has many titles, and we will discuss that in a future blog.

Why is He the eternal spirit? It is because He brings us in, into the eternal life. He’s the one who convicts. He’s here to convict the world of sin of judgment and of righteousness. Really? No man ever got saved without the work of the Holy Spirit, whether we believe it or not, because it is the Holy Spirit who points as to Jesus.  Even those that don’t believe in the Holy Spirit, in His deity. It doesn’t matter if you are a believer, the Holy Spirit has opened your eyes and you have seen the need for Jesus and you have been convicted by your sin and have repented.

Why? Because this God has put eternity in our hearts. How He does that is through the work of the Eternal Spirit. This is crucial for you to get in your spirit. The more you understand this and not just the names and titles. While they are connected to what the Holy Spirit does, it through the Eternal Spirit. His eternality is an attribute ascribed only to deity; He has no end. He’s God, because He is the Eternal Spirit.  The Holy Spirit is eternal.

The same way the Father is eternal, the same way Jesus is eternal, the Holy Spirit is eternal, and we need to embrace His deity and to embrace His divinity. He is going to be with us always to the end.  He brings us into this eternal life, and He helps us to work on this path and prepares us for eternal life. The Holy Spirit is called the Eternal Spirit.

  1. The Holy Spirit is immense.

He’s omnipresent, He is everywhere.

In Psalms 139:7, the psalmist says, “I can never escape from your spirit. I can never get away from your presence.”

Why? Because He’s not only eternal, but He is immense as the Father is immense.

  1. The Holy Spirit is omnipotent.

In other words, he’s all powerful, almighty. We hear so throughout the scripture that the Bible talks about God, the Father, as the Almighty God, the God of Abraham, Almighty God made a covenant with Abraham.

He says, “I’ll be the almighty God”. That says Holy Spirit is almighty.  He’s all powerful. Those are not just titles but attributes that are only ascribed to divinity. I hope this is really helping you.

Micah 2:7 “You who are named the house of Jacob, is the spirit of the Lord restricted? Are these His doings? Do not my words do good to him who works uprightly?”

What I want to point out here is like Micah is saying, is the spirit of the Lord restricted? Is there a limit for Him? Can He be hindered? No, he’s not restricted. He’s not constrained.  He’s all powerful. He’s almighty. Those are really properties of deity.

The Holy Spirit creates.

Job 3:4, “the spirit of God has made me the breath of the Almighty. God gives me life.”

Now some may argue that’s only relating to his works.  Yes, but creation is the work of the divinity of God. Job says, “The Spirit of God made me the breath of the Almighty. God gives me life.” Why? Because the Spirit IS God. Dear Friend, I wish we had all the time to talk about the work of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament in creation. I could show you all throughout scripture that the Holy Spirit has been there from the beginning. Here is why, because God is three persons in one.  The more we understand this reality and this truth, the better we can really embrace what God is doing, who God is and experience all that He has for us. The Holy Spirit creates., I’ve seen many miracles and I’ve seen a lot of creative miracles. Those creative miracles happen when the Holy Spirit touches that person.

Why? Because the Holy Spirit, as we will learn that He’s the, manifester. He creates, He’s the manifester of the working of the Father. And He’s the manifester of the service of Jesus, what Jesus has paid for. He brings it into our physical world. There’s nothing that really happened without the Holy Spirit getting involved. Be it in creation or what is going to happen. Or even when Jesus comes. As a matter of fact, we see in Acts Jesus was received by the cloud, by the Holy Spirit. The same way He says, “you have seen me go, you’re going to see me come.” Who is going to bring Him back?  The Holy Spirit! Right now, the Holy Spirit is preparing you and me as the church for eternity, for that marriage supper of the lamb.

Dear friend, I’m passionate about you and me knowing the Holy Spirit.

Zechariah 4:6 “It’s not by might not by power. It is by my Spirit says the Lord.”

Write this down.  It is by the Spirit.  Anything and everything from beginning to end is not by might. It’s not by power. It is by the spirit.  Hallelujah.

  1. The Holy Spirit is prescience

In other words He’s all knowing.  He has knowledge of things before they exist or before they happen. He has full knowledge, foresight. That’s why, when you begin to flow in the gifts of the spirit, you may experience, the prophetic operations of the Holy Spirit in gifts of words of knowledge, words of wisdom. Words of wisdom talk about things that have not happened. Things that will happen in the future. This is because Holy Spirit is prescience. He knows all things that have happened, but He also knows things that are to come.

1 Corinthians 2:10-11, “But it was to us that God revealed these things by His Spirit, for His Spirit, searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit. And no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own spirit. The Holy Spirit as it were, He searches your heart, and He searches the very heart of God.”

And when we talk about the very heart of God, we are talking about God, the Father, God, the Son. He searches the heart of God, the Father, the Son, and His heart for that matter. Then He begins to reveal what God has for you. Again, when we refer to God, let’s get comfortable with the idea of the Trinity or of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. I know, people understand God, the Father, but I want you to get comfortable with the idea of the Trinity. We have one God in three persons.

  1. The Holy Spirit is omniscient.

In other words, he has infinite knowledge.  He knows the future. He has also infinite knowledge of all things.  Remember 1 Corinthians 2:11 that He knows the thoughts of all, men and God.   I want to remind you of point eight.  Holy Spirit is prescience. He has knowledge of all things before they exist or happen, or for knowledge or foresight.

This is Acts 1:16 “Brothers, the scripture had to be fulfilled concerning Judas, who guided those who arrested Jesus.”

This was predicted long ago by the Holy Spirit. Speaking through king David, the Holy Spirit prophesied that Jesus would come, hundreds of years before Jesus would come, David prophesied this through the Spirit. The coming of the Messiah and his betrayal because the Holy Spirit knew the future.  He has knowledge of things before they happen.  That’s why when you flow in the gift of the word of knowledge, or the revelation gift of the word of knowledge, you begin to have knowledge of things to come by. Only Holy Spirit can give you or me revelation of things to come.

We have said Holy Spirit is prescience or He has knowledge of things before they exist or before they happen.

And number nine that the Holy Spirit is omniscient.  He is omniscient, He has infinite knowledge.

1 Corinthians 2:10 “But it was to us that God revealed the things by His Spirit, for His Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit. And no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own spirit so He, the Spirit of God searches the heart of God.

What I mean by that is the Holy Spirit searches the heart of the Father, the heart of Jesus and then He makes it known to you and me those things that are in the heart of our Father, in the heart of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  the Holy Spirit takes it because he has all knowledge.  Omniscience is only an attribute of a divine being.

Before I finish this, I want to talk to you quickly about as we put this together, the role of the Trinity, the operations of the Trinity, so to speak.

1 Corinthians 12:4-6 “But there are different kinds of gifts. but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord now, Lord, meaning Jesus Christ. And there are different kinds of working all operations, but in all of them and in everyone, it is the same God at work, meaning God, the Father.”

Here we see the working of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit distributes.  Jesus serves and gives us access to the grace, the mercy, the gifts of God. The Father is the architect of all things. Here we see the Trinity involved differently. There is nothing that has happened or that ever will happen that the Trinity hasn’t worked together on. They all work together. They have already played a part. The Father, the architect has played his part. Jesus has played his part. Now the Holy Spirit is bringing all these things to glorious completion on the earth, and then preparing us for all eternity. Hallelujah. I want you to put that in your spirit.

  1. All blessings flow from a triune God, Father, Son, Holy Spirit.

2 Corinthians13:14, (MSG) “The amazing grace of the Lord, Jesus Christ, the extravagant love of God, the Father and the intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”

Again, we see the operations of the Trinity and we see how in this benediction. Jesus saves you. The Father loves you. These are like the primary role that they play. and the intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit be with you. We see that in this benediction, in this blessing, we see Paul acknowledging the involvement of the entire trinity. I want to emphasize that it is always Father, son and the Holy Spirit. We know that Jesus, his role in the Trinity, He’s the savior. He saves us. The father loves us. He is the architect that He saw us in our fallen nature. And He sent his son to die in our name and in our place. The Holy Spirit is the one that brings us into the communion. The Holy Spirit is with us, the fellowship, the friendship, the partnership, the comradeship.

In other words, Jesus said, “I’m going, but I’m not going to leave you alone.” I’m going to send another Comforter. He’s going to be with you. He’s the Spirit of Truth. He’s going to lead you in all things. He’s going to be in you with you and upon you. The upon part is the power that the Holy Spirit will impart to all of us that are believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Hallelujah!

Dear friend. This is your time to know what you believe about God because reading this blog shifts your worldview, shifts your kingdom view. It determines how you respond to God. I believe that as you go with me through this study, that your confidence, your knowledge and understanding of God is becoming clearer in this area. Many people have shied away from the Holy Spirit because they don’t want to offend the father. They don’t want offend Jesus. I’m telling you nothing will make Jesus and the Father gladder than for you to receive the Holy Spirit.

Jesus said, “I’m going and I’m going to let him come. And when He comes, He’s going to be to you what I have been to you. The disciples communicated with Jesus when He walked the earth, now the Holy Spirit is going to come and He’s going to continue that work.  Dear friend, God loves you. And he wants you to be full of the Holy Spirit., I want to invite you. You are watching and you don’t have a relationship with Jesus. I want to invite you today to make Jesus, your Lord and Savior. Brother, I’ve read or heard the message and I want to have a relationship with God.

Pray this prayer with me.

Heavenly Father, I believe in your son, Jesus, and all that He did in my name and in my place. I confess that I’ve fallen short of your glory, and I need a Savior. Jesus, come into my heart. Wash me with your blood. Write my name in the book of life and fill me with your Holy Spirit and empower me to do your will until you return. I confessed today that I am yours, I am saved. Amen.

THE HOLY SPIRIT PT.5- SPEAKING IN TONGUES

THE HOLY SPIRIT PT.5 – THE BLESSINGS OF SPEAKING IN TONGUES  VIDEO TRANSCRIPTION

We are in Part 5 of knowing Holy Spirit. Part one taught us about the nature of God and the amazing gift of Holy Spirit, a breath of fresh air. In part two, we were enlightened by the meaning of Pentecost as we discussed the three Jewish holidays. Then we discussed knowing and understanding spiritual gifts and being filled the Holy Spirit through baptism in the Holy Spirit. Today is all about praying in tongues.  What are the benefits of speaking in tongues? What are the blessings? Is this scriptural?  Is it biblical? In each of these sessions we have discussed

(Acts 19:1-2) “While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? And they answered, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”

We pray many will embrace the Holy Spirit, like never before, so they can access all that God, the Father, and Son have for them through the Holy Spirit. There are Christians, many people who love Jesus, but they have not been taught about the Holy Spirit. They have not been exposed to the workings of the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit the believer is walking in ignorance. Therefore, the Bible tells us that people perish for lack of knowledge. While ignorance is not a sin, it can cost you all the blessings and the privileges that God desires to be yours. A hefty price to pay that one can avoid.

My desire is to bring understanding and clarity so we can operate with knowledge. Regarding the Holy Spirit in this blog, we want to talk about praying in tongues specifically.  This is a hot button issue for some Christians, but we want to identify the blessings because this topic is rarely discussed in church.

(Acts 2:1KJV) “When the day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came sound from heaven as of a mighty, rushing wind. And it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues as of fire, that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them.”

Put this in your spirit. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Not some of them but they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. I know some people have condemned speaking in tongues as being demonic. They say that it is non-scriptural, that It’s not for today, but we see this is the early church. When the Holy Spirit came, He gave utterance to their prayer, and gave them a prayer language. As they were praying, they experienced these mighty works of God and began reaching out to God.  I want to walk you through some of them here,

Blessing. number one: you declare the wonders of God.

People had come from all over. Remember it was the day of Pentecost. They had come to celebrate the day of the giving of the ten commandments.  Remember that Pentecost was 50 days after the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

(Acts 2:5-12) Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken.  Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome  (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”

These people had come from all different places: Jews, converts to Judaism, Cappadocia, Arabs, Pamphylia, and each hears the declaring of the wonders of God in their own language. The people who are praying in tongues, they were praying, given the utterance by the Holy Spirit, but those that heard them, heard them declaring the wonders of God’s blessing. Number one, when you pray in tongues, allow yourself to pray in tongues. Now you are baptized in the Holy Spirit with evidence of praying in tongues. When you pray in tongues, you get to declare the wonders of God as they did.

Blessing number two is that you magnify God.

(Acts 10:44-45) “While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all, all those who heard the word. And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles.”

Remember when the Bible talks about the circumcision, it is talking about the Jews, and they were astonished because they thought, this gift of God was only for the Jews.  Here you have the Gentiles, receiving the baptism in the Holy Spirit. They were also speaking in tongues.  They heard them speak in tongues and magnify God.  Remember, this is on a different occasion. This is later in chapter 10. We see again, they were in one place in a prayer meeting.

Now let me say this for clarity, that I am talking about the private practice of the gift of speaking in tongues not the public gift of tongues and interpretation. We see them in small groups, small settings not publicly in a church.  For the sake of clarity, I’m talking about you praying in the spirit in your prayer language and being able to build yourself up and really digging deep into this gift.

We see here in the upper room in the beginning of Acts, all the disciples praying together. Then we see Peter in Chapter 10, praying with other likeminded people, Gentiles. I like to think that they were praying and then the Holy Spirit was poured out to them and they began to speak in tongues as the Spirit gave their utterance.

Blessing number three is when you speak in tongues, you speak directly to God.

(1 Corinthians 14:2) “Anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people, but to God.”

That’s why I emphasize this right now. I am hoping that you embrace and go deeper in your personal prayer time, praying in the Holy Spirit. Stop and think about that for a moment. You are speaking directly to God when you speak in tongues.  At another time, we can talk about speaking in tongues in the congregation and having somebody else to interpret, another type of speaking in tongues. That’s a different subject all together. What I am talking about is praying in tongues. What are the benefits? What are the blessings, when you are praying tongues as a prayer language, you are speaking to God, the devil cannot decode your message.

That is why I love praying in tongues. I’m a tongue talker.  Yes, truly. I love praying in tongues. I pray in tongues probably more than anything, because I discovered this thirty plus years ago. The very first book I wrote was on praying in tongues and I hope to have it published one day soon.

I studied this and I could not believe it.  When you pray in tongues, the devil cannot record your message. The Bible says, “If you pray in a tongue, you don’t speak to men, you speak directly to God.” That’s why you can’t stand on the pulpit and preach in tongues. No, you can’t, but in your private prayer time you can.  When speaking in tongues, you can pour your heart out to God. As you pray in tongues or pray in the spirit or speak in tongues, whatever terminology you want to use, this is what happens. If you embrace it, it’s going to change your life. It’s going to elevate your prayer time. It’s going to elevate your ability to really plug into all that God has, the rivers of God and the gifts of God, Also, all that the Holy Spirit has for you.  Praying in the spirit is the doorway to entering in there.

Blessing number four: when you speak in tongues, you are speaking mysteries

(1 Corinthians 14:2) “No one, understands him who speaks in tongues for he speaks mysteries in the Spirit.”

I believe the devil fights praying in tongues so much because of the blessings that are attached to praying in tongues. I believe that’s why the devil fights it and even good, intelligent, smart people that love Jesus condemn praying in tongues. They say, “That’s demonic” or “it’s not for today”. They might even tell you that you really don’t need to concern yourself with that. They will tell you to just seek the deeper things of God and the word of God. But this is the word of God. When you pray in tongues, it says you are speaking mysteries. Mysteries, to whom? To God! You are declaring mysteries.

Paul tells us to ask God that you may interpret or comprehend what you are praying.  Praying in tongues builds your spiritual muscle. There comes a time when you begin to understand what you’re praying and as you pray these mysteries, sometimes you are prophesying. Other times you’re declaring and decreeing to the demonic world. You could be rebuking. I’ve experienced this on all kinds of levels.

You are declaring the mysteries of God over yourself, your family, your city, and your marriage. In my book, Working the Works of God, I tell a story of visiting a young girl with AIDS who was suffering terribly. I did not know what to do but I was moved by compassion. She had sores on her head and her armpits and lips were dripping blood. There was barely any meat on her. They had sent her that afternoon to go home and die. When I had, walked in at three o’clock, and started sharing the gospel with her, she couldn’t talk. She was barely nodding her head in agreement,

I closed my eyes, and I thought I was going to pray in English or pray in Ugandan. Suddenly this prayer came forth in tongues. I am with her and a few of our family members sitting around the bed.  I prayed a short prayer, a powerful prayer. She told me, as I began to pray, waves of fire kept going through her. By the time I said, “Amen!”  The sores had completely dried up., The lips that were dripping. blood had stopped dripping blood.  The boils in her armpits had disappeared. Suddenly her wounded body was completely made whole, miraculous, right there. it wasn’t my prayer. It was the prayer of the Holy Spirit.  it’s the prayer that the Holy Spirit was praying for her.

He knew what to pray and how to pray it. I was merely the vessel that He was using. When we pray tongues, we pray mysteries of God.

Blessing number five: when we pray in tongues, we edify ourselves.

(1 Corinthians 14:4)He who speaks in an unknown tongue edifies himself.”

Do you want to be edified? Then pray in tongues! You’re confused? You’re depressed, stressed out? You don’t know what to do and how to do it. Just begin to pray in the Holy Ghost. When you are praying in tongues, you are edifying yourself, and an intertwining of your spirit with the Spirit of God takes place.  Suddenly the Holy Ghost prays for you. This changed my life. Suddenly your spirit, your spiritual muscles begin to strengthen. Think of every time you speak in tongues like you are going to the gym, strengthening yourself. You are working out, exercising. Your spiritual muscles are strengthening and expanding daily, as you pray in tongues. You edify yourself.  You are building your spiritual muscles up by the Spirit of God.

Blessing number six: when you speak in tongues, your spirit prays.

Oh, I love this. When you pray in tongues, your spirit prays. YOUR SPIRIT. Your understanding and your mind are cut off for a moment or the duration of the prayer. Your spirit takes over and the doubt from your mind or your logic cannot get in the way because now the Holy Ghost has gotten a hold of your spirit. He’s crying out, He’s speaking and He’s praying out of your spirit man. Listen to this verse,

(1 Corinthians 14: 14) “For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. 15 So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my understanding; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my understanding.”

Now this is Paul, who wrote 80% of the New Testament out of revelation. He says, “If I pray in tongues, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.”  For a moment, your understanding, your logic, and the doubt that comes in from all these thoughts, they’re all halted. They’re cut off. It is the spirit of God moving your spirit and your spirit is praying. Dear friend, if you ever want to pray a perfect prayer, pray in tongues, because when you do, listen, this is what happening.

Blessing. Number seven, when you are praying in tongues, the spirit makes intercession for you.

In other words, God Himself is praying for you. God is interceding. The spirit of God who is God, He’s making intercession for you.

(Romans 8 26 NKJV) “ Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession [a]for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”

“This is the only time in the Bible that it says  we don’t not know what to do. We don’t know how to pray. It doesn’t say we don’t know how to preach. It never said we don’t know how to be good husbands, or good spouses. It says we do not know how to pray.

We have a weakness, but listen to this, it is different. We are not left to ourselves. When we pray as God wants, it takes our spirit and our unknown tongue interacting with the Holy Spirit. He’s making intercession for us with groanings, words and tears that cannot be uttered. He knows how to pray for you. He knows how to pray for your marriage, your family, your children, your loved ones that do not know Jesus. He knows how to pray for your business. He knows how to pray for you, for your church, for your community, for your nation, whatever it may be. He knows, you do not know. You may have a prayer point. You may have prayer request a long list of them, but He knows every one of them.

In 2012, we were in Romania doing mission and I was in prayer getting ready to go to this conference. The Holy Spirit stopped me during prayer. I’m on my knees.  I am pressing into God. I’m praying for God to move and God to save people. The Holy Spirit said, “Andrew, stop. “I asked, why?” He said, “You are praying for the wrong thing.”  I was confused, what did He mean I was praying the wrong thing?  “I am praying for people to get saved, touched and that the word of God would move swiftly, and He be glorified.” He said, “Yes, but that is not what I’m doing. That’s not what you ought to be praying for right now. “

Do you know what He told me? He said,” Andrew, I want you to prepare the vessel.”  I’m preparing to do the ministry, so I asked Him, “Lord, how do I prepare the vessel?” He just said, “Yield to my spirit. Let me pray with you and for you.”  Over the next several hours, I was in my office, on my knees and praying in the Holy Ghost.  At one point I remember my wife called me for lunch and the door was locked. I was on my knees, just praying in the Holy Ghost until He was done praying.

A few weeks later, the date of the conference arrived that I had been preparing for all this time. All this time the Holy Spirit has been preparing the vessel. He said,” I’m going to do the ministry. You prepare the vessel. I’m going to prepare the vessel by praying for you and praying through you.”

At the conference, I began by reading Psalm 24. I had prepared to talk about holiness. Yet, by the time I got to verse three, the glory of God entered the room. I did not get to preach that first service. The power of God was so thick, so strong. I could barely hold onto the pulpit.  I’m standing there and the sick began to get healed.  Demons began to leave people and people were touched from the front to the back of that place. I am just standing quietly, and worship music is softly playing. some songs as we worshiped God, we witnessed a mighty move of God. Listen, friend, I wasn’t doing a thing. I can’t take credit for any of that. What God did at that place, I was just a vessel.  I read the Word of God, I just read a scripture and the glory of God, the power of God was so strong. Oh my God. Oh, I feel the anointing and it was so strong.

I remember the pastor could not stand. He was trying to come get the microphone to tell people to come for prayer but he was stopped in his tracks. The power of God was so strong. We just stood there and worshiped His Holiness and exalted His Holiness as He healed the sick and touched people. And at the end, I read the verse again and just invited people to get saved. and people got saved.  I remember the pastor told me that there were people watching on television. They were live- streaming. Those people were in tears, as they were calling in, asking how long is this meeting? People got on trains and started coming to the conference. Some were hundreds of miles away, all over Romania, leaving their homes to come to this conference.

Dear friend, it was all because I allowed the Holy Spirit to make intercession. This is powerful.  I believe that’s the reason why the devil fights it. He knows if people can learn to access these blessings, the church is not going to be as weak as we are. We’re not going to depend on smoke machines. Do you know that the Bible calls stage fires, strange fire?

Many think we must create a “wow factor”. The Holy Spirit in services in Africa across Europe and even across America. The Holy Ghost WILL BE THE WOW FACTOR, if you let Him. He has wowed multitudes for centuries with the gospel. He has been the only wow factor. He needs to be the only attraction and He can be. I believe the enemy fights this truth. The enemy knows that through it we can really access the power of God. We can really be dangerous.

Blessing number eight, when you pray in the Holy Spirit or praying in tongues, you build your most holy faith.

(Jude 1:20) But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,

I believe this means that the Holy Spirit takes you and, that the praying in tongues is like the doorway into the gifts and in the power of God, because you are building your most holy faith.

Like I told you with that young lady dying in the hospital, I don’t know if I had faith for a healing or not, but that prayer I prayed in the Holy Spirit built me up for that very moment. Which was what? Maybe less than a minute we prayed, but the power of God touched me, and I could feel it. He touched her and she was instantly healed. What a miracle! When you pray in tongues, you build your most holy faith. When you are faced with circumstances and you do not know what to do even know what to do, begin to pray in the Holy Spirit.

As soon as you do, the Holy Ghost is going to build your most holy faith. Your faith is going to begin to build you up. Some of the most powerful prophecies, words of knowledge, words of wisdom, or prophetic words I’ve ever received came through praying in tongues. They were for myself, even up to today, as I pray in the Holy Spirit, there comes a time when He begins to speak, He begins to edify me.

He opens the portals of heaven.  Holy Ghost praying in the spirit is so crucial to your spiritual work. I believe that that’s why the enemy will stop at nothing to stop it. He doesn’t want it to happen. Yes, like anything else of God, some have abused it and it has not always been, packaged well. The presentation has been bad. Yet nothing is more powerful. Life-changing. Many people have been put off, but that’s no reason to really ignore, neglect or throw out this truth because this is life changing. This is powerful. When you pray in the Holy Spirit, let’s re recap these eight blessings. When you pray in the Holy Spirit,

  1. 1.You are declaring the wonders of God.
  2. You magnify God in a way, no other way can.
  3. You speak to God directly.
  4. The devil cannot decode your message.
  5. You are speaking mysteries to yourself, even to the enemy.
  6. You edify yourself, your spirit praise.
  7. 7.The Holy Spirit makes intercession for you and
  8. You build your most holy faith.

Dear friend, that is good. That is huge enough for me to embrace this truth and to exercise it as part of my everyday life. I believe God wants you to experience the Holy Spirit and the fullness of his work in your life, in an all-new way. Will you embrace praying in the Holy Spirit, in your prayer time, in your private prayer?  Will you allow Him to usher you into the gifts, the powers, the revelations of God, as we finish this broadcast today?  I want to give you an opportunity to receive Jesus.

You have read this blog and you may be asking, what are you talking about? The key to knowing the Holy Spirit and all these blessings is to receive Jesus Christ into your life as your Lord and your Savior. If you have never started a relationship with Jesus, you can start today by acknowledging what He did in your name and in your place. He died for you. You don’t have to die to go to heaven. Jesus died. You must receive the gift that He gives you today. Would you say this prayer and mean what you say and say what you mean?

Lord Jesus, I need you. I am a sinner and I need a Savior and you died in my name and in my place to save me, would you save me now? I turn over my life to you. I believe that God raised you from the dead, that you are the son of God. I confess with my mouth that I am saved today, that you are Lord and savior of my life. Fill my life with your Holy Spirit. Empower me to live for you now until you come. Amen.

Dear friend, you have said that prayer, Jesus has saved you. The Holy Spirit has come into your life to help you to live a life that is holy. That is righteous to make a difference to empower you for a supernatural lifestyle. He’s going to take you into the blessings.
